The Seals and Vernal Ascendants have nothing to do with each other.

That donned on me earlier.

Edit: Oh wait, I'm getting all confused from reading multiple posts in the same sentence. My point still stands!

That argument makes no sense. The entire point of a Vernal God, even from an RP standpoint, is that they are super-strong and defend/attack with your org. Why would you raise a crappy fighter?

ummm see Juliana
Rika2011-01-02 05:23:13
Um... the Last Nine -were- good fighters/contributors to a fight. The whole point of them being raised was to drive off the Soulless. Now, whether it is because of their Vernal powers that they managed to win their battles against the Soulless is up for debate, I can safely say that you don't turn a non-com into the next big thing in the world of combat here in Lusternia by giving them level 101. You can't really compare the two.
Anisu2011-01-02 05:24:47
The checklist for VA is really this:
- Will this person remain in the org no matter what?
- Is this person very active and will he or she remain so for at least half a real life year?
- Is this person capable of winning domoths and do we think he will do so?
- Is this person a good fighter?
- Is this person popular?
- Does this person follow the RP of the org
- if you still have candidates left insert referendum here.

There is no reference to Juliana being a fighter in any capacity. She served as a mediator more than anything else.

Saoirse really toughed that thing out to the very last, missed it by just a minute it looked like. ):

Eleven seconds, give or take.

She was a strategist. Same difference.
Aicuthi2011-01-02 05:34:19
I think there are exceptions where someone is incredibly versed in Lusternia and a stellar example of a leader/organizer/strategist/quester. Personally, I'd stand behind someone who was reliable and intelligent but had above average combat skill instead of lets say-- someone who was amazing at combat but had no sense of communication or teamwork. People accel at different things and for different reasons.'

edit: spelling

Juliana was a mediator, but she also served as a tactician. She masterminded, organized and carried out the plot to trap Zenos, for example. She also was the one to convince Kiakoda to leave her forests and fight with the other Vernals.

I wouldn't be surprised there were 'non-combatant' vernal gods. These were also probably the first to die, very quickly.

Of course, you're comparing apples to oranges, in a lot of ways. If I were to invest generations worth of work into a single individual, though, to help fight the Soulless, they'd likely be a combatant. Probably not a dumb-as-bricks soldier, but smart and capable. You're not fighting Soulless much anymore, though. Just horrid little mortals. Then again, that might just be the same thing...

I think there are definitely a lot of people who can fit this. Just the degree to which they fit any item will vary.

You can compare apples to oranges, you know. :\\ It is not a very good idiom.
Xiel2011-01-02 06:02:03
Oranges > apples.

Only if they're tangerines. Otherwise Apples rule all!

Just like you can compare the purpose of the current Vernals and the ancient Vernals. smile.gif

They do not, however, taste as good in chicken marinade. Oranges, though. Mmmmm...

(The idiom means that you can compare them, but they're far from identical. Comparatively speaking, you'd be better off comparing oranges and grapefruits.)

We have at least two Moondancers with icicles. Poke around on GT before you go flying off, might save yourself some time.

I know what the idiom really means. I still however think it is a horrible idiom.
