EDIT: Ok, also. Not just from the forums. I stopped going on Skype for a few reasons, but the biggest one is this: people just refused to keep what I talked about there out of the game. What the hell, people? I shouldn't have to feel like everyone is going to take everything I say OOC and apply it to their own IC knowledge. I guess it's pretty naive of me to expect everyone to have like, a sliver of etiquette about it. This is my big tweet about when people don't respect the IC/OOC barrier, it drives me up the wall.

A lesson learned the hard way on my last MUD. Basically, it was/is an RPI (roleplay intensive, for the odd unfamiliar person), with one (now two) player cities. Despite even having help files and admin discussions on it, instant messanger/chat/voice programs became part of the dramas. So you had the cliques and sub-cliques and overlapping friend groups and bad incentives and the odd person who was just sort of nasty, and it ultimately made the game both emotionally draining in a bad way, and induced a pretty good dose of paranoia in anyone regularly playing.

There were times where I would go to class and get all fidgety sitting in my lecture because I thought that someone in the game would be undermining me in some way in my absense.

So when I came to Lusty, I decided, no messangers, no chat programs, no communication with anything outside of official forums and e-mail (and the latter because its a practical necessity.) Lusty lives in its little magic box in the interwebs for me, and doesn't extend its tentacles outwards. This helps me both keep the addiction and keep it managable. tongue.gif

Hmm. That's two times people have now put 1 gold in other organization's banks for the Aeromancers. The act itself really doesn't bother me at all (brush up on your trolling skills, you make mama Phoebus disappoint), it's more that no one would have known at all that it was even a thing to do besides from the forums. I respectfully put forth that all y'all suckas best keep IC and OOC separate. It's just like when I joked about Phoebus drinking sometimes on the forums, and then it came up from about a million people who didn't know IC about it to her. Seriously one of my pet peeves. Stop taking things you learn on the forums to the game. That is all.

Maybe you should stop sharing so many details on a public forum... Just a thought! Not that I condone taking anything ooc to ic but you do post. A lot. tongue.gif

I have found talking with Lyreth I sometimes have to have a thesaurus and dictionary to figure out what he is saying to me...

P.S. I am not grumpy!..... all the time.....

And I know that you find it annoying that I post a lot. So no, I'm not going to stop talking. happy.gif Nice try though.

Maybe people just don't remember where they learnt these tiny little details that well...

This is exactly the only reason I've ever done anything similar, I can't for the life of me remember where I've learnt a lot of things, 99.99% of the time it's not a problem. Just that 0.01% when I slip up. It's not intentional. sad.gif

But then at what point do we draw the line? We do after all have a thread dedicated to asking questions about IG stuff, presumably we're allowed to take THAT knowledge ICly? Or does that make me a terrible person too? ouch.gif

Er, no, threads are not IC. Period.

Not my point, we have a thread for questions. Questions about IC things that are presumably relevent to what someone's doing IG. Hell, almost everything other than twits and raves is going to be information that SOMEONE is going to take IC. For instance, we have threads for questing help and general rules to follow, if someone follows those general rules given they're a metagamer, it follows that any information given out on this forum is in fact bad RP endorsed by the admins tongue.gif

What I mean, if I mean anything, is bring back the rants thread, cuz that, tweets and raves are the only thing on this forum we can use without being evil monsters tongue.gif

Sometimes things learned on the forums can be rationally explained by your character figuring it out for themselves, like quest hints (Oh... what if I turn this statue instead of pull it). Other things are highly implausible for your character to just suddenly realize (new area that your character has never heard of at all IG, Phoebus' drinking habits, etc.).

Man, submitting a design seems so stressful, compounded with the fact that the composer won't open up for me on mudlet for this version. And the regular editor gets deleted unless I turn everything off, and even then it all confuses me. But I got the design finished and submitted after a lot of work.

They might as well take away my Ascendant status now because I'm not doing any more Domoth battles until shrines are disallowed on aetherbubbles. /tantrum
Ixion2011-01-08 16:50:33
It's silly, but you can always fight lameness with more lameness. You're in the wrong Muud (see what I did thar?) if you want a fight without such things.
Unknown2011-01-08 16:57:57
I know there's really no such thing as a "fair" fight, but there's fun and... that.
Malicia2011-01-08 17:05:59
Yeah, I was feeling the burn when Mag raised a shrine in Acknor during its last revolt. Darn shrines. Everyone uses em.

That was a bug, though, and shouldn't happen again.
Ixion2011-01-08 17:11:26
Wish #4092: Let shrines be in org territories only!
Unknown2011-01-08 17:22:20
Remove shrines as weapons and replace them with a blessing/item based system of divine intervention!
Unknown2011-01-08 17:42:44
Eh, there's a reason why I don't post a whole lot of details, and the stuff I do read here Aeral doesn't know about. We might discuss it on an OOC clan or something, but not ICly. My IC/OOC barrier with Aeral is far better than it has been in years past with previous characters.
Sylphas2011-01-08 17:42:47
As much as I hate shrines being used as org weapons in anything other than a full on order-vs-order slugfest, I do have to praise Lorina for not keeping me enemied to Eventru after the domoth fight. Having enemy statuses thrown on for fights is par for the course, but I'm not used to them coming back off after their usefulness has ended.
Kiradawea2011-01-08 17:43:19
Fix Nexus please. I have all my nifty utility there.

Seriously? If I've ever been in charge of enemying to an order it's always been removed after if it wasn't them raiding us. Y'know, so long as they didn't win weren't jerks somehow.
