I would just use dynamite.
That's one way to catch the fish without caring about whether or not the ice is thin...
Probably preferable to tapping it, at that. Good call.

I am clearly absolutely no fun whatsoever at weddings. It is fun.

Still going to hire you when Daraius finds that perfect someone to not love for the rest of his life.

EDIT: This is the first time I've been around for a new village reveal. Wouldn't it be just terrifying for villagers who have been cut off from the adventurer population forever to suddenly get swarmed with influencers? Jeez. It might have been nice to just... let the village exist for a while before opening it for influence. Does that ever happen?
We've asked, begged, for it many times. With the way they do it now, whoever gets the village first gets to lock it down so the next time it goes up everyone else has had little opportunity to explore it and is thus at a big disadvantage, producing yet another in a far-too-big list of ways that advantage breeds advantage. Unlike many of those, this one could be fixed trivially easily. Never happened though. Look on the bright side: at least we're not still in the days when a new village wasn't even revealed to everyone except one organization.

Requires far too much work to make a village uninfluenceable but still a village. Too much stuff in basic quest scripting would need to be edited/shutdown for it.
Lendren2010-10-18 11:16:53
It's been done before. Remember the event opening Glomdoring, when Virathuru was terrorizing them and they were, one by one, made to revolt and become uninfluenceable? (Admittedly things have changed since then so more would likely have to be done.)

The irony of a thread subtitled "cuddles and sunshine" created by a Gloomie is not lost on me. Maybe Xenthos should Come2Seren now.

They were uninfluenceable because there were no villagers to influence, iirc (though I suppose it could be done, but spending time and resources so that people can stare at something before it revolts semi-randomly seems tacky and unattractive. I'm 90% sure players would bitch quite a lot if a heavy gem-production village sat there, not selling commodities, until it revolted normally (which would be the way it goes) - which would be with Dairuchi, and IIRC, that's about 5-6 weeks away?)
And, realistically, until the feelings changes are in, Glomdoring would have lvl 3 influencing bonus by that point, so they'd have won it anyway. The only perceived value of the change is people will get to see their points tic up a bit for their explorer's, and given the cost of guards, I'd imagine that's a thorough waste of time anyways (as the village is most likely easily explored as-is).

Heh yeah, but I made it to school.
Wanna know the great part? My bus arrives at the school at around 7:25. I don't have classes until 8:30.

I think you're underestimating both the value of having mapped a location and gotten to know where its denizens are, and Glomdoring's determination to make sure no one else does things, but it's a moot point. That it's not going to happen is far more important than why.

Oh goodie, I can't wait to see. Even though the chances of me being in a revolt are like.. slim to none.
(Also, I hate netbooks so much, silly miniature things I keep making mistakes)

missing the event because of work
but on the bright side, I thought of Lusternia/lusternian characters while at work, which while sad in some way is awesome cause it means I am enjoying the game again.

For too long I've been trying to stay on friendly terms with Seren. The RP I had set had me prefer Seren over Glom, but now? Gonna end up on good terms with Glom in the coming future.

Blessed be the Light (of the Wyrd)!
If it's any consolation, I'd wager that whatever's changing your mind now is only part of the real story.

I hate revolts so much. And events, because I never know what's going on because no one likes me and I just get ignored.

Wait, what?
Since when have Spiritsingers been in the middle of a GM election?
I was thinking about running in that a- wait, you mean it's over? Welp.
