Judge is 10-12 seconds. Plus all orgs have access to decap. Moon/Night are good skillsets. I don't really think another insta-kill is all that necessary really.
Unknown2011-02-14 18:50:26
Change that one for all wiccans, and I'll consider it.
Unknown2011-02-14 18:52:48
Okay, the same skill that has Judgement has Trueheal and Heretic/Infidel/Inquisition.
Synergy for warriors? Moon/Stag lacks it... still.

What warrior uses judge one on one? If you can hinder someone enough to where they can't stop you from judging/decap- they're dead anyways. The inqui line is also terribly power intensive. It's nice when you can pull it off- people get away from it all the time and you still have to um... kill them before and after the stun wears off which is far more difficult for a Paladin than a Celestine who has a prepped soulless card.

One-on-one? Almost no combat today is one-on-one, and I've never bought into the school of "let's balance combat for one-on-one and the group thing will take care of itself."
Judgement has no prerequisites, so you can have others hinder while you just yawn. Abilities like that are very powerful in group combat.
Even without the Inquisition, you're still doing nice, passive afflictions with Heretic/Infidel, and Heretic/Infidel themselves cannot be cured.

So you think judgement and decap are overpowered? A lot of things are strong in groups... We'd be here all day discussing them. I've had people try to decap me in groups. I have no problem getting away or interrupting the insta. I'm more worried about two bards and deathsong.
Edit: I'd much rather lunge than waste six power on heretic-infidel if I'm not trying for inquisition.
Unknown2011-02-14 19:19:03
Oh, definitely, there are so, so many things that are overpowered in group combat. The envoy wars are just not the best way to fix anything.
Veyrzhul2011-02-14 19:21:32
You easily notice it when people are prepared to avoid instas like judgement. Sure, you can have all your group mates hinder the person you're judging, but the person being judged also has all THEIR groupmates to web/paralyse/prone/blind/move the one judging. And that will pretty much always happen when people have highlights and/or communicate that they/a group mate is being judged or instaed in general.

My only problem is that the excuse "blah doesn't need it" isn't very fair, when another analogous class has it and enjoys using the crap out of it.
When you consider other skillsets, moon and stag don't even compare in usefulness. Heck, if it weren't for the fact that at the moment I need the DMP and extra stats on my swords, I'd probably have gone tracker. I might consider the switch once I get my character to demigod.
Crow gets squall, which is an excellent little skill for splitting people up in groups, night has choke, which gets whored often enough for obvious reasons, sacraments has trueheal, judgement, inquisition (and its prerequisites), aeonics has a number of useful little passives and paradigmatics has badluck along with a bunch of other little annoying things. Moon really doesn't have anything we can cast and feel happy about, outside of drawdown, shine and full. Dark is worthless for a warrior, waning and succumb won't stick unless you've screwed them over enough to kill them otherwise. Stag isn't too much better a skillset either.
Serenguard got it tough.

Having always played a druid I can't really say how great they are for warriors first hand, but I think you're probably underestimating Moon and Stag.

I say give everyone equal access to timed instakills or take them all away
and whoa, moon is pretty sweet, easy raze speed/wane, dark to strip defs, moonbeam to travel super fast anywhere, plus drawdown and full? come on now

Useful in very limited situations, maybe, but not nearly so nice as others. All I ever hear is "hey, you have Drawdown, be happy," but it doesn't make up for the things we can't really use, especially one-on-one.

No, my point is that judgement and decap, which have the same execution time- are very easy to avoid in groups and nothing to worry about one-on-one. I don't understand the complaint. And if we're arguing about synergy- sacraments isn't that synergistic with warriors. Most people who know what they're doing can avoid being inquisitioned and it costs 12p. I also don't believe Moon and Stag are worthless as you're trying to make it seem but we can agree to disagree.
Edit: @Sidd- give everyone nightkiss or choke too. Or give everyone ninuki. (jk!) Everyone already has access to a timed insta. Bards, pureblade.

Moon has shine and drawdown as two excellent buff skills, full as an excellent life saver and moonbeam as a really nice traveling skill. Also, warriors can nicely raze/waning for very good aeon support in groups. Also, I'd consider the totem buffs better than the rituals one, so don't forget about them, they're part of the skillset.

What in the world?
Moon is not terrible, you even mentioned 3 awesome skills that get used quite often, which is about the same amount of Night skills which are useable 1v1.
Waning is not hard to pull off when you can raze speed, dark is great for passive defstrip (with no message)/affs, but I'll give you succumb, since wiccans use that more.
Let's not even mention the super omg amazing wtf utility skill of moonbeam.

Look at the Death Challenge. Your instakill works.

Drawdown, Full, and Shine are primarily defensive abilities. Good, sure, but do little for offense.
How long has it been since you tried to stick aeon to someone as a warrior? Raze/Wane does nothing unless you've got them pretty messed up already, which just highlights issues with warrior damage and afflictions more.
Dark is curable.
