Don't be so jealous

Maybe because it's easier to motivate the citizens to do the former than the latter. Willingness is everything.

Heh, ok, I don't think you quite got it, but you're right about willingness, We were only willing to offer as much help as Hallifax was willing to offer, and for some reason, you guys got mad.
Ilyssa2011-02-18 22:14:05
I think we can all agree that no one got much out of Hallifax being in Trinity, so we can pretty much just leave it at that. >.>

Sylandra, I thought I told you to stay away from tweets! What is the point of me being a good influence on you if you don't listen??

Anyway, my tweet: Freakin' writer's block, man! I've got designs to finish and a ceremony to plan, and I can't write diddly. So lame.

It isn't my fault Celina's been gone for so long!

Eh, thematically I always felt that Gaudi was a better fit with Glom than Halli ever was. Both have a thing for spirituality and ritual, both deal with transformation of nature and subjective reality. If Gaudi ever manages to get enough RP going that is in their more serious aspect, could have some neat-ness there.

By the same token, the pragmatism and ends-justify-means attitude that sometimes accompanies Magnagora fits pretty well with Halli's RP. Also,

I suppose we'll inevitably have a massive fight between Halli/Mags evil giant robot and Gaudi/Glom's gigantic mutant monster.

jawdrop.gif laugh.gif Oh man, way to paint the picture! Anyway, that shift is probably good for the game. Change is good. Would be cool if they would return our Inky though. Will trade for Arte.

Godwin's law has been invoked. It's time for this topic to end.

What strikes me most in this conversation is that it starts with an Ascendant refusing to even try in a battle from the very start.

If you go into it with that attitude, you can't expect to have a chance.

You have to try. Put in the effort, put in the sweat, and don't give up after one or two losses. For example, the last time we tried to take Chaos from Mag, we were outnumbered. Glomdoring alone against Magnagora and Serenwilde. We died a fair bit, but we kept trying and kept at it. It's always possible we could have managed to pull it off with one lucky skirmish; something we've noticed with Magnagora / Serenwilde is that if you manage to beat them once/twice they go away and don't even come back.

There's something to be said for tenacity.

Personally I only ask them as a last resort if we're really outnumbered.

And then Malarious or some others usually show up anyway and people are like 'gawd there you go crying for mag to help again.'

This, I remember this happening to me. It's quite possibly the most annoying thing in this universe to me tongue.gif

Rewarded? I can't really think of anybody getting 'rewarded' with anything outside of commune favours. Or Ascendance for me for that small handful. Though personally I've always thought of Vernal Ascendance as more of a putting a responsibility on somebody then rewarding them. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you there?

Well, I actually meant something a bit less tangible like overall org success.

RE: Hallifax - I think it's probably a bit of jealousy on part of Celest/Glom seeing Hallifax actually start contributing to their new alliance at a level way more than Celest/Glom have seen when they were a part of trinity. Especially considering that on the whole, if at the very least due to the amount of time they've been part of the trinity, Celest/Glom has contributed towards Hallifax way more than their new setup has and they've gotten comparatively little in return. More effort spent = less return gained.

So yeah, Sidd pretty much hit the nail right on the...head.

For the Zerg Glomdoring.

In seriousness, I do applaud the steadfastness of Glomdorians and all the persistent people in other orgs.

In all honesty, I think there's a lot of bias on either side. But I also think that all of this posting has no effect on anyone's stance on the issues, and everyone just likes to rant/post, so don't listen to me. :I

From our end, Hallifax refused to give anything (including making a peace treaty with Serenwilde ages ago), and kept demanding stuff that they never even worked for / felt they deserved, for nothing invested.

That said, sure, everyone has their own feelings on the matter!

I think a lot of it was that as much as Glomdoring helped Hallifax when they were 'losing' Lusternia, there were some things that were kind of abrasive. Notably, the deal with the miners, if you remember that, which I'd rather not go into detail about, because when we do put it in Tweets, it just degenerates into /forumrp and NO U.

My rave-ish tweet: Lethargic, four-day weekend.

And then you have Gaudiguch, who still believe Magnagora and Serenwilde didn't hand them their villages.

This is all absolutely true. But it's also much, much easier said than done. It might not seem that way if your org has a culture of buckling down and getting it done anyway, especially if you're currently on top. But for me, personally, I don't care. I'm almost a demigod, I have artifacts, I'm omnitrans. If I really cared to make that effort I could. But I don't. And I'm not sure what could happen to MAKE me care, to make me start wanting to put that effort in that will eventually pay off months down the road. I can do other things that are more exciting and more rewarding with my time that don't require the hard work and the wait, so I do them. It's why I've been slipping back into dormancy more and more. Some people stop playing, some just sit around the nexus snuggling with their friends, or aetherhunting, or whatever else they do that has no bearing on the overall conflict.

How do you fix that? Can you? I'm not sure how to answer those questions.
