What org are you in?
Unknown2010-10-21 01:49:01
Mag, but I had the same problem in other cities and communes as well. I've accepted that damn near every guild, city, and commune channel is going to be empty and quiet and boring. I've been trying a find a fun and active guild and city/commune, but I'm starting to think that it doesn't exist. If the point of guilds has become to solely hand out guild skills and the players do nothing to expand on the org's purpose or community, what's the point of having one?

It depends on whether you play during the peak period or off-peak too. I play off-peak, so the channels are often pretty quiet most of the times. Although, I've had fairly awesome discussions on the channels before, it's not that often, but it does happen.

from what I have found, most orgs see the org/guild channel for more important things than just idle chit chat between people.
I think you will need to actively go up to people and start talking with them directly...maybe

Well, I know for me, I rarely talk on the city/guild aethers. Personal preference; I don't really like to broadcast myself out there. Not to mention bother them all with chatter about the weather or somesuch. But if someone talks to me in the same room or in a tell, I'll talk back.

I can understand that. I've been in orgs in other games that restrict the use of channels for personal use. It's not really the quiet channels I'm whining about, it's the lack of any meaningful in-org communication, whether it's in person or on a channel. It can be bothersome to foster a guild identity, but guilds are boring without one. It feels like I'm a rogue.

Ninjakari. Swinging around a jakari chain is fun.

Also keep in mind that use seems to have dropped dramatically since the end of the summer. This is to be expected-- players go in cycles, and we appear to be at a low point from my point of view (I may just be around at the wrong times). I've got a couple alts scattered about, and everywhere I go, it seems there are less and less people around. Stick around, try to strum up some conversation, and hopefully it won't be long before the population shifts again.

Someone Upstairs picked up my wedding recording tablet idea!
EDIT: But made it better, of course, because people Upstairs have magical item-creating and -progging powers and I do not!
EDITEDIT: Except now I have the distinct feeling I'm being laughed at. D:

That's your problem. You're looking for RP in the Ninjakari.

Yeah, sorry. That's your problem, the monk guilds have had a terrible time integrating themselves into their respective orgs. They've always seemed more like outsiders and most people don't like monks anyways.

Yeah, I hear you. It might help if I hadn't already been in a fairly bad mood then and now. As it is, all I can muster up is a vaguely upset feeling about the entire thing. =/

Okay.. I was thinking just that the other day. No, you're right... I'm usually on throughout the day. And I've seen an overall decrease in the number of players. Look at it this way... the last public post was last month.
I hope you're right - -

Probably doesn't help that it is also mid-terms time.

Lucky for us, it wouldn't be at all out of character for a Shevat to be totally offended by it. Roll with that vague discontent!

But... but, monks are cool. The Nekotai seems to try, at least, but their membership is...
