You know it takes 50 000 of each gem to reincarnate a sphere?
You so funny.
Excuse me while I try to calculate the time needed to cut those, assuming perfectly even gem distribution and an average of 5 gems per cut.
EDIT: About five and a half RL days of nothing but gemcutting. Brutal.

And yet, I wouldn't be surprised if he was serious.
Furien2010-11-17 20:06:47
I would.
Also, people do raids for the sake of conflict. It gets people involved on both the assault and defense. It's fun.

It's more fun when it doesn't happen several times a day, for most people.

Pfft, there is no such thing as decency in the battlefield. Barely any off it. Most people that raid are simply put, jerks. Jerks don't care about niceties.
And when you act non-jerkish towards jerks, the jerks pay you back by being super-jerks.
And Lusternia seems to be overloaded on jerks. :<

eh, I disagree with this
I raid and I don't think I'm a jerk
Most people respond in kind, if you're a jerk to me, I'm not inclined to be nice to you (Lilian has a history of this, though not to me in particular except for one instance) but on the other hand, if you are nice, I'm inclined to be nice back. I can't ever recall someone being nice to someone and that person being even worse back. Most people on Lusty are good people, even the Ixions and Ethelons who are just annoying with their rofl's and lameness, There are a few bad apples, but most people are decent.

Come over here for a while... and then say that again... with a straight face.
Ileein2010-11-17 20:26:45
Part of the reason people come off as jerks while raiding is, I think, that there's really no time to talk, give reasons, or bandy witty repartee. It's just *mash macro* *demesne effects* *demizap* *dies*, which doesn't leave much room for anything but "wow, he killed me, that's pretty lame."
I speak only from personal opinion here, of course. Some people can come across as arrogant jerks when talking, too. It helps when it's clear to all concerned that it's a purely in-character thing; some people have issues with that.

Yeah. :|
(As Ileein said it can suck/get pretty lulzy when your org RP is based on being a jerk. Because... evil means you're supposed to be a jerk!)

I'm not a jerk. Ask Rivius. No matter the person (except like 4 main exceptions, 2 being Mag, the other 2 Seren) I'll hate them if I'm fighting them on a raid or defense, but I'm courteous off the battlefield. When I ask Rivius to spar, and we draw or I win, I give constructive criticism, and such. Yes a while back I was acting like an ass towards Seren, but I was a little angry. But in all seriousness even if the person is an enemy I'm not gonna straight up be a jerk to them. I've been courteous outside of battle to Marie, Sahmiam, Fillin, Ulen, Rika, and others. In fact when we first talked in person you were being a jerk to me, along with whoever that nublet was.

You kill noncom healers and hunt on prime fairly often. You're an official jerk, silly that you would try to say otherwise.
Lilian tends to treat people the way they've treated her, even people from enemy organizations. So if she acts like a jerk towards you, you deserve it.
Furien2010-11-17 20:31:37
Welp!
There goes the subtlety.
I'd like to think that people have a 'quota' of conflict/jerkishness that they try and avoid going over, but history has proven repeatedly that people will go overboard. (See: raids, Hart/Crow conflicts on both sides, early-morning Celestia raids, Supernals, etc)

Tweet for electricity flickering, router going offline for a few min - logging in via phone (no, not with that non-functional IRE client...) and orgbixing out to safety, alive, 'till I'm able to relogin. Yay! Monocle kitten approves.

Killing you on prime doesn't mean I 'hunt' on prime fairly often, my suspect list sits at a big fat 'nobody' right now, the only person on it was you, in recent memory.
My first interaction with Lilian was in fact being treated quite rudely from the get go, and killing non-com healers on faethorn isn't that big of a deal.
And to be fair, I was on the receiving end of multiple beatings, people seem to forget this, but those constant daily raids are what made me enjoy the game in the first place.

This has the ring of truth to me. Ages ago I thought Forren was a jerk, but that was really because my main IC interaction with him was raids/defenses. Turns out he was a nice guy!

I have always wished that there was a nice RP game where combat was relaxed enough that you could get some character interaction going during it.

Actually, the first ever tell I got from Lilian was just a bunch of insult tells after fighting in Faethorn. Haven't said a word to her beforehand, so I have to agree that Lilian brings it on herself a lot.
I don't even send accusatory/lolling/insulting tells. I like mocking yells addressing entire groups of people, personally.
And really, taking the high road gets you nothing. So does playing an e-samurai (insert obligatory 'duels are dumb' statement here). If you have a goal to achieve, you go out and get it done.
P.S. Then again, I have been known to just get insults thrown at me from every side depending on the season, man I'm a nice guy I swear

The root of the problem really comes back to the winning org momentum thing more than anything, but the forefront symptom is the raiding that seems to rub it in the faces of the non-winning org(s).
Lusternia was complicated when it first opened, and it's gone up exponentially year after year, every new thing trying to top the last new thing.

That is quite true, but I feel like that's par for the course and not something that just magically grew overnight.
