I'm not a jerk. Ask Rivius. No matter the person (except like 4 main exceptions, 2 being Mag, the other 2 Seren) I'll hate them if I'm fighting them on a raid or defense, but I'm courteous off the battlefield. When I ask Rivius to spar, and we draw or I win, I give constructive criticism, and such. Yes a while back I was acting like an ass towards Seren, but I was a little angry. But in all seriousness even if the person is an enemy I'm not gonna straight up be a jerk to them. I've been courteous outside of battle to Marie, Sahmiam, Fillin, Ulen, Rika, and others. In fact when we first talked in person you were being a jerk to me, along with whoever that nublet was.
Well, on the battlefield enemies are SUPPOSE to hate each other. So, I guess that time I beheaded you during that spontaneous Tide Lord raid set our characters' destinies in stone. OH NO. But really, there's a problem when people take RP out of the game and this is something we need to like not do okay? It's a role-playing game, and if you blur that line, then you're a bad role-player.
Also, Rivius is courteous to everyone. Eraxth jumped him when he was collecting clams, and Rivius actually spent time talking to him later (not a buddy-buddy talk but more like "we're enemies, you have status, let's try to understand each other's motives").
I think the only time I sent a rude tell to someone was against Vitas who was being a real coward with a big mouth. I don't doubt he can kill me. Anyone can, and easily. It's just, if you can do it, why run away when your decap fails?
QUOTE (Sidd @ Nov 17 2010, 04:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Killing you on prime doesn't mean I 'hunt' on prime fairly often, my suspect list sits at a big fat 'nobody' right now, the only person on it was you, in recent memory.
My first interaction with Lilian was in fact being treated quite rudely from the get go, and killing non-com healers on faethorn isn't that big of a deal.
And to be fair, I was on the receiving end of multiple beatings, people seem to forget this, but those constant daily raids are what made me enjoy the game in the first place.

I don't have anything against you OCC, atleast I don't seen any reason to yet. I'm just going to jump in and defend Lilian here and say she's probably one of the nicest people I've met in the game. What I have observed is a constantly building frustration with the state of affairs in Serenwilde, and the mere fact that we can barely put up much of a fight. I've seen you deny it on this forum already, but whenever you raid, we always come out with far more losses, and you guys usually get out scotch-free. After spending a morning demoralizing us, you then come back with other members of the trinity as well, in an even bigger raid. Glomdoring alone gives us enough trouble to properly take on and then we have to face the likes of them combined with Celest, and as I understand it from talking to people, some Hallifaxians now? I'm not bitching, don't get me wrong. Couldn't give much of a crap. But after so many beatings, of course people like Lilian are going to get frustrated. Of course they're going to begin holding grudges. It's not because she's a rude person...it's because she's a nice person who's being constantly shafted by the status-quo.
Now, don't get me wrong, I fully well understand that this is RP and your org's RP revolves around being ruthless, power-hungry and violent. That's understood. But there comes a point where you're sort of overdoing it and it starts to smell like deliberate griefing. I'm going to have to call you out on beheading Mnemosyne today when she was empowering Fae. Sure, it's just a game and everyone gets on with life, but it kinda looked like a dick thing to do because it seems you sort of went out of your way to piss her off (and this is assuming you know she isn't a combatant and that I don't have the situation wrong). I doubt you achieved anything other than probably upsetting her (though she didn't seem to care, but I'm sure that might have been the intention). Again, I'm not bitching about it (I really don't give a damn), but it really seems as if some people are hiding behind the RP and using that as an excuse to be genuine douchebags. I'm also not saying YOU, Sidd, are a griefer or a douche-bag. I just gave that as an example to make my point.

Actually, the first ever tell I got from Lilian was just a bunch of insult tells after fighting in Faethorn. Haven't said a word to her beforehand, so I have to agree that Lilian brings it on herself a lot.
I don't even send accusatory/lolling/insulting tells. I like mocking yells addressing entire groups of people, personally.
And really, taking the high road gets you nothing. So does playing an e-samurai (insert obligatory 'duels are dumb' statement here). If you have a goal to achieve, you go out and get it done.
P.S. Then again, I have been known to just get insults thrown at me from every side depending on the season, man I'm a nice guy I swear

As I said earlier, chances are she's just frustrated. I don't blame her either, it's annoying when you spend so much time working on other things and have to drop it and spend time and resources fighting a losing battle. It's a game, sure, and you can't win 'em all. But getting beat down time, after time, after time, after time, gets really frustrating.
I'm going to get a lot of crap for adding this little note as well (especially from Serenwilde), but a lot of people need a bit of a reality check on the state of that commune. Sure the occasional demi-god or vernal-ascendant who is seasoned in battle will come in, but we're really bad when it comes to team work. I just finished deleting logs from raids where I learned nothing more than the fact that we enjoy running in without a basic plan.
It doesn't help that we're losing novices day in and day out, and on top of that, losing older players as well. I've suggested we try to work with each other and passing little things on, but no one gives a flying-fondue and sit on their asses at the tree all day. Heads up, you're losing old faces, and getting new ones. It's a good idea to start realizing that and helping them, because they're what you got left. I'm sick and tired of hearing about 'org momentum'. It's pretty obvious we could do better but everyone just seems to have resigned completely.

Anyone who complains about not enough combat, or says the people on the losing end shouldn't complain?
IF- the person in question has been sitting in an org that hasn't been getting the crap beaten out of it for a year and a half (often for the whole or vast majority of the existence of said character), then then they have zero grounds to stand on.
And if they so dearly love combat, they should move to the underdog org, and get all the combat against other fighters that they could ever want.

Do not take the Nature Domoth unless you plan to enslave yourself to it and keep it at Crown level 24/7.

Personally, I like bringing more and more people as soon as Mag/Gaudi shows up to defend. I don't know about the other raid leaders, but whenever Serenwilde doesn't try to defend by itself, I feel like being even more lame. I've always wanted each org to fight their 'rival' and only their rival, so whenever things skew one way or another, I think it's okay to bring more people.
And really, with the current state of shrines/liveforest/meld in etherwilde/glom, there's not much choice but to bring big numbers sometimes. And even then, I've participated in quite a few raids with only 3-5 gloms and yet Seren still manages to ask Mag for help even if they have 2x+ our numbers. I am sure they only show up for the lulz, though.
But I guess I can understand why you'd want to do what you can to drive out the raiders especially if you die to them repeatedly.
Which leads me to...

A plan is always great. People who follow said plan to the letter are even better. You should learn to become a leader, because top tier leaders are much better than top tier fighters, especially in teams. You just need competent followers then.

Oh you.
I don't think anyone's said they shouldn't complain. If anything, all I've heard is people implying that evil-bad-org-X is out to get them and their dog personally RL because they got raided. Oh, and passive-aggressive bitterness towards said org.

stuff
I never said Lilian wasn't a nice person, I just pointed out she's been rude to me and several other people, frustrated or not, being a jerk and being rude is going to be returned in kind.
The only reason I killed Mnemosyne rather than debate her was because I honestly figured she would beat me in a debate, but I still wanted to stop her from influencing, so I killed her. -shrug- I don't think it's a big deal, I didn't jump her with a giant group that ended up laming her in every way possible, I just killed her and went about my business.
I can say that I don't ever personally ask people from other orgs to show up when we raid, but people see deathsights and they congregrate, everyone does it. We started off with 3 of us, and fought for a good while, then added 1 or 2 more, but overall, it was pretty fair I feel. I get frustrated when a ton of people show up and I tend to leave if that's the case, unless it's certain people I enjoy laming due to attitude etc.
The thing is it's a game, I know how it feels to have Shuyin & co beat down, I remember several times when we thought we were fending off a raid, just to have a second swarm of Celenwilde show up and decimate us. I feel that you guys are putting up better fights than we did, and definitely better fights than a few months ago. I try not to overdo it, and yeah, sometimes I enjoy jumping in on a Mag astral bash and linking them to death, but it's all part of the game.

Man, I remember constant raids from Mag on Celest, and use practically always having to call in Glom and Halli, but as of late, that's happening less and less. We're learning to hold our own. Just a week or so ago Haiden raided Water, me and like two other people went up, Haiden died, then he came back with Aerys, and they both died with no deaths on our side. Me, Laranda, Aosi, not top tier combatants against a monk who knows combat and a warrior who knows combat. If I can get to a level in which I don't hinder a defense and no one on my side dies, anyone can.
Not sure if there's actually a point to this. idk

Coming up with an awesome concept and aesthetic to go along with it, along with a purely badass title that, though a mark of some shame, would actually be kind of fun to wear? Good. Writing a long, detailed, and well-written post about it, then accidentally deleting it because of my own idiocy combined with the fact that the mudlet composer window's save button looks exactly the same as the cancel button in peripheral vision? Not so good.

If I see Glom+Celest raiding (which fair chunk of the time), I will check to see if there's a Magnagoran around to take care of the Celest counterpart (which when I'm awake, is actually pretty rare.) Some come up when they see deathsights (Malarious in particular.) At times it's just Celest alone, and those just boggle me. If it is Glomdoring alone (rare), then I don't bother asking for help, even outdemied (which is often the case).
And now it is Glom+Celest+Hallifax. I wonder if I should look for Gaudi to counter the Halli, but...that's even less likely than finding Magnagorans.
99% chance if I send rude tells, it's because of frustration after a bad defence where everything got deaded. I don't mean what I say, and I'm often non-jerkish off-raids times. A few of the 'enemy' are aware, though most don't make any overt interest in speaking...only in killing. Sadly raids occur so often it's hard not to be frustrated. ICly, Lilian's just very paranoid about people that constantly beat on her home, it's hard to trust them enough to be civil to them. The more prominent activity in Faethorn+Etherwilde, the more distrustful she is. To be fair though, I don't think she's actually bothered with talking to many Glomdoring members of late...she just expects what happens will happen and that is that. OOCly there's some people that I would like to get to know, because they do seem interesting.
And Rivius is right about the leadership thing...the prominent fighters seem to be very independent and don't really communicate. Not everyone is like Kolm and...it's hard coming up with a second name for a defence leader to come to mind, haha. And they aren't around much when I am awake. I guess I would say Alianna for a second, but she's never around anymore.
