Some people just don't have it. Some people just do not like Mage or cannot bear to kill as it. If you are in that category, don't feel bad.. just open yourself up to new possibilities.

I love the class, just get annoyed with certain limitations and always being made main target most times, along with being squishy.

Mages have better DMP than guardians and druids do against most common types.

I wish Lusternia had more one-on-one combat besides Duels and Free-for-alls. I tend to enjoy it a lot more than group combat about 80% of the time.

So do I, but group combat is the biggest way to get some PK lately, so I can't be a chooser when I'm a beggar. :/

Though I died a few times too many, because stupidity made me sip vitae twice, I had fun. Hate Geo demesnes, but I got kills, and I think I'm getting better.

You might have what it takes, with practice. You are largely reliant on your group, so being some small part leader, other part teacher can help with this.

It's generally easier to have your group go in first and cover for you. Someone should realitycheck on entrance, too. Being Aegis'd makes this ten times easier. Once your group starts taking hits (give it 5 seconds or so), rush in and break. Rush out if you notice your health drop (tumble into the safety of your meld). Go back in, meld/terrain. If your group is smart, they'll be keeping the enemy mage pinned down and preventing them from bringing their demesne to power over yours while you have to dodge out for a breather.

I won't lie about how ridiculously easier it is as a Druid with Lowmagic and Serpent, but yeah. Just ask yourself: when you see your demesne hitting 8 people at once with massive walls of textual death, and when you feel that warm fuzzy feeling knowing that you played a major part in the safety (and ideally victory) of your group - is all the trouble/pain/death/agony/frustration worth it? If yes, you're a melder at heart and can put up with it.

Lacking any sense of drive and feeling vaguely discontent. Maybe when I get back after this weekend I'll feel better about things.
