Remember when...

... there was no Elostian?

Dark. Dark days.

Aye, dark indeed.

We had to deal with Elcyrion and Lacostian as two separate people. sad.gif

I -know-

Wasn't it awful?

I remember the first week, when no one had any cures, so we all kept passing scabies back and forth while the one or two Healers in the game tried to fix us all up. biggrin.gif

Diamonds sold for 2k, credits for 1k or less, and flying summoning meant certain death...

I remember when abjure quickening -> abjure web -> abjure cosmicfire -> abjure cosmicfire -> win! was a viable tactic.

let's see now...

I remember Forren, Soll, Shamarah, Yurika, Simimi, and all the good old Celest folks before I left due to differences.

I also remember whenever I say hi, 3/4 to all of the city would reply...

I also remember Ildaudid who I used to banter with...

Glomdoring being more secluded before they became a super power now.

Constructs, I miss activating one and pretend I'm in a magical mech to destroy key structures...

Pythons for easy money.

Gorgogs before they consider themselves an organization and start to gang-rape anyone.

How I used to watch the inner sea almost like the entire day due to nearly unlimited melds that time...

How sea battles matter, though annoying, still brought camaraderie within the orgs even we're losing.

Chasing Ixion and the like whenever they hit and run in Celestia, and how I always lose!

Man, I would list more but it makes me feel very old...
Ixion2010-11-06 18:23:43
Oh wow that IS old. Nowadays just switch to monk/bard/maybe researcher and stomp people, and laugh at warriors being nearly useless against any semblance of curing 1v1.

Pets do more damage in a hit than most warriors now, which is just -wonderful-....

I remember watching Lisaera make the Moondancer guards (the stronger ones I forget what they are called) by combining a banshee and something else...

I remember the spear of nintoba quest...

being able to nature flow back and forth between glom and seren

This thread has me feeling so new. I'm used to being the veteran in the other mmo's I play. huh.gif Kinda neat to read though how things used to be.

Something that I did muse on recently was that in the few months I've been playing, I've already seen the coming and going of quite a few characters, as well as a lot of positions of power swapping hands. Is that a usual thing, that people don't keep these positions for very long, except those who seem to have been around since the start of the game and had their position for a long long time?

Absolutely true. There are exceptions, especially in the newer guilds, but it is very difficult to find replacements for some people. If you look at the MD history for champions, I think you'll find 80~ IC years of Sarrasri, interrupted by only a few years of other people before they give up or go inactive, etc. For something closer to home, you might see how many times Nariah has stepped down from power only to inevitably wind up in another position of authority.

And then, even with the newer guilds, the lack of cohesion between members who are constantly new to each other can still mean the positions get cycled through constantly.

Very recently I had contested Usharra for GA after he went inactive, only to have my computer break on me a little while later, so I handed it back to Ushaara (who had come back to us a week after I became GA, making me guiltguiltguilt myself to no end). I'm not so sure if it's the fact that most of the new guilds are comprimised of people from different orgs, or the fact that we haven't haven't had a chance to witness the recurring GL's yet. I can certainly see the Sentinels' current leadership stay in power a while of they so choose, and probably taking other positions later.

Hey! That was all a carefully orchestrated rise to power - GA -> GM -> CL suspicious.gif

As for remember when...

Remember when Avechna would never turn his eyes away from areas involving events and it was all deaths, usually, in enemy territory?

Remember the dark times of no Theatres? blackeye.gif

Remember when there were no xp boosts beyond human, low magic, and harmony?

Remember when you could sit behind a wall in aetherspace and shoot at things? tongue.gif

Forget xp bonuses, all the races except humans and like, elfens maybe, had XP -penalties.- And we didn't have harmony then either. And when we did we had a bunch of bright red REMOVE KARMA sigs.

That last part amuses me beyond belief.
