I read this old thread out of curiosity...
Isn't it weird how time marches on and new faces replace the old ones...
Somehow, IRE got it right regarding the passage of time and aging of characters...as I think a character "lifetime" is about the equivalent of 50-100 game years. With exceptions of course.

I quite agree. Though occasionally people from the past do come around again, and it is quite surprising.
I always feel sort of lost when I look at CWHO or QW, and realize I do not know 4/5s of the names anymore. Very strange feeling!

This just means that you need to get out and mingle more!

Lord Eventru, how progresses?
Diamondais2010-11-05 21:58:37
I miss lots of players from Lusternia's first few years, but I've met some lovely people since so it makes up for it in a way.

I hop on some of my old characters every once in a while. It's sort of sad to see them neglected.
So many unfinished goals that were never achieved...I don't want that to happen with Aicuthi!

I'm starting to feel this way with Serenwilde.
'Hey, remember the Seren-Celest war?'
'You mean the one right now?'
'No, the one that happened last ... century, right. Uh. How about the time Muud was almost woken up and the plague ravaged the Basin?'
'... Nope.'

You know what I enjoy reminiscing about more than Seren-Celest War I? The fact that about 3 IRL months before, everyone was like "This game is stale! Take, for example, Serenwilde and Celest. They'll never go to war!"
Acrune2010-11-06 03:27:45
Yeah, I miss a lot of the old characters, and I feel like Acrune is too 'up there' to really get to know new people well, mix in a little of my extreme anti-social tendencies, and Acrune doesn't make a lot of new friends. Still a few old people around, but its not the same, so I don't come around much anymore
Ameryth2010-11-06 03:35:03
I had a character during that Olde Celest-Seren war. I stopped playing for a few years, but I was there. I miss Elryn. He was awesome and my mentor and awesome.

"Hey guys, remember that time Kethuru came by and caused trouble?"

Remember when we had negative power in the pool?

Yes! That was awesome. People were immolating their newbie hearts out, and everyone's like "Guys, that's way too expensive. And quit it with the MagicMouths!"

A collection of "Remember when... " statements, as apply to me, in ascending order of "I feel old"
Remember when...
"... there were no Monks?"
"... there was no Undervault?"
"... were no Bards?"
"... were no Ascendants?"
"... there were no Aethercraft?"
"... there was no Wyrd?"
Hurrah for being around for 5 yrs...
Whee...

I'm sure some of them could remember those, but they'd be breaking a few barriers by remembering "past lives".

I wish I was playing around that time, but I started not soon after the Tahtetso were released and I barely payed much attention to events for the first two years of playing.
