It says do not win with the Order or the Ministry. Learn 2 read.

I could have sworn....
In any case, that's really weird because the Order and Ministry are technically trying to kill Voldemort/remove the deatheaters confused.gif

Huh? I don't know the Potterverse at all, but up top is says that Ministry wins when all those who do not win with the Order (of the Phoenix) or the Ministry are dead. So from my perspective (Of not knowing much about Harry Potter), is that Ministry wins if everyone but them and the "good guys" (I assume the Order of Phoenix are "good" because their win condition is Harry Potter surviving.) die. Meaning death eaters, SKs, Vigs, ect, ect.

OH! Thanks for helping clear that up. >.>

Sabres brings up a good point. The Ministry win condition and the fact it says there are OTHER win conditions on the first post. Though, it seems the Ministry can't win with them which worries me that they are a cult since there was only one death last night.

And yes, it is kinda early to guess at a cult, but I really doubt the doctor got lucky on an SK out of six people and a random kill.
Unknown2010-12-10 06:33:25
Yeah, I'll agree with Sabre. Looking over the Death Eater win req and the Ministry win req again, I suppose it's just in the best interest of all non-scummy sorts to try to cooperate, at least.

I'm also getting the feeling Ministry players might be more free to reveal information about themselves, while we might not want so many Order members painting targets on their backs.
Dynami2010-12-10 06:34:24
Erm, what's a SK?

Serial Killer. They just want everyone to die so they win, basically.

I am overly amused by the fact that Rika is Rita. laugh.gif

I wouldn't get too comfy about the Ministry being open about themselves. The Death Eater win condition says that Fudge needs to die.

I have no idea who Fudge is, but I'll take your word on it.
Unknown2010-12-10 06:38:50
Who's Fudge? Some high up in the Ministry of Magic?

The Minister of Magic or the leader of the ministry.

There's no explanation of who Fudge is, just "Fudge". For all I know, that leaves it as some independent player.

But knowing he's the actual Minister puts it into much clearer perspective.

I'm not sure I'd go along with the cult thing at this point. Are cult win conditions usually that they have to gain a majority of the playerbase or something like that? With their win condition allowing for Order members to be around, I would think it would nullify that. (Because an Order member isn't and Order member anymore if they get brought into the cult). BUT I'm mafia newbie in ways, so I may be making false assumptions about how cults operate. Can you explain that second line, Casi? I have know idea what you were saying.

Go find that mafia link on page two of the sign up thread. Very helpful to orient yourself to terminology.

Basically this. It seems to me that there are two townie groups whose goals only slightly very, really. But they are BOTH against the Death Eaters for sure because the Death Eaters need to kill the Order of Phoenix members (Which includes Potter himself? Yes or no?) AND kill the leader of the Ministry of Magic.

Both the Order of the Phoenix AND the Ministry of Magic need the Death Eaters dead to satisfy their win conditions.

So... I expect mass paranoia in trying to figure out who's in which of two groups that are both essentially townie.

I did read it. I saw the Fudge condition, but had no idea as to his affiliation. tongue.gif

Vary. It was bothering me, sorry.

I did edit the win conditions in after I edited the third post, so it's possible that they missed it.

(I was hopeful it would clear up more confusion than it would create... But I digress.)

http://www.hp-lexicon.org/index-2.html is a good reference point for anything, person, or item (or anything else, for that matter) that you hear about.

Fudge, for instance: http://www.hplex.info/wizards/fudge.html

Thanks, and since you're paying attention to non-bolded stuffs at the moment, might want to move Rika to the dead pile. sad.gif

Since we're at Hogwarts, there could even be the DA as an underground group.

@Vendetta: If this is following the source material, the Order are the good guys. The Ministry are technically considered good guys, but they don't trust the Order, and get in the way sometimes. There also may be a Death Eater spy in the Ministry. The DA is 'Dumbledore's Army', a secret group of Hogwarts students teaching themselves to fight Voldemort, lead by Harry. The Ministry is -pissed- about this, and will do anything to throw Harry in wizard jail. Harry and friends know about the Order, but aren't technically part of it, since they're still considered children, and it would put them in danger. Of course, I'm assuming, from the fact that Fudge is still Minister, that this is pre-HBP.

This is my first time playing mafia, but I'm guessing it won't necessarily follow canon, so this is all speculation.

Alright, so we know from the first post that there are more than likely a non-scum, non-town win condition. Rika was killed by You Know Who, if you read the flavor text. If we had a serial killer, then why did only one person die last night? We had a 1/256 chance of a killer and the doctor targeting the same person. That would be a .4% chance. Now, we can have a survivor or a jester or something else, and I even said it can be a little early for a cult, but with how night 1 went, I wouldn't leave the chance out.
