Random.org says vote: Arix. No, it didn't really, but he chose the joker and we all know not to trust the joker.
Ssaliss2010-11-08 01:56:33
Oh, right, voting... Drawing a card at random gave me the king of spades. Huh. Who's that?
Ssaliss2010-11-08 01:57:00
Oh, Ayisdra.

Vote: Ayisdra

Never trust the Queen of Hearts.

Vote: Rika

We also know to not trust casilu to make things so simple as Joker = something bad, but that's as good as any for a starting point.

Vote: Arix
Ayisdra2010-11-08 02:04:44
Joker is normally a wild card, which is a good thing.

speaking of which, most decks have two jokers....hmm

I've never read Problem Slick. Homestuck all the way, man. So this comb rave silliness makes zero sense to me.

Also, I'm not really comfortable making random votes at this point (even though it's the only way to move things along >_< Why must you institutionalize randomized acts of violence, Mafia? Why?).

Vote: Caerulo assuming the cards mean anything seems like a silly way to start. Cards are just an easy way at randomizing the picks.

Again, this is MSPA, and the links say some cards mean things....and again its Casilu. Do not put anything past her. If something looks like it doesn't matter, it does.

Oh damnit, Unvote I kinda see it. They probably do mean something. Casilu, be less nuts. I like my game runners easy to predict.

It doesn't have to be a violent lynching.

But knowing Casilu, it most likely will.

Also, I wasn't the person to actually start voting Arix, so why you voted me and not Rika?
Unknown2010-11-08 02:22:24
That's easy. If people are more or less random voting, even if for my perceived reason which I considered weird, they are more or less harmless votes. But you placed a second vote on someone and cited what I considered a weird reason. However, now that I see that the cards do mean something I just feel dumb.

NEVER!

Well, the Midnight Crew members are SPADES Slick, HEARTS Boxcars, DIAMONDS Droog, and CLUBS Deuce, with the appropriate... thingies. Suits. However, no face or numbered card has all four iterations present in the starting "hand," so to speak, so I'm not sure we can use that as an indicator. I'm leaning towards 'it's random,' myself.

Alright, time for some speculation:

Casilu stated that she planned 18 roles. There are 15 balls, one cue ball, and a cue stick dude. On the Midnight Crew (MC) side, there are 4 of them. That's a total of 21 possible roles, assuming she uses only the Felt and MC, and that there is no third party.

That leaves the MC with little room for roleclaiming, right?
Ssaliss2010-11-08 02:42:36
This is only going by what the Wiki has to say, but...

On the Felt side: There the Cue ball (Doc Scratch), balls 1-15 sans balls 14 and 11 (which are apparently killed off, or never existed, or something). That makes 14 balls in total. Not counting Lord English due to him not being seen yet.

On the MC side, there are the four suits.

Add those together and you get 18 roles.
Unknown2010-11-08 02:44:27
No, the cards almost definitely mean something now that I go and look over things. Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, and Clubs are associated with the midnight crew and numbers are associated with the Felt. The felt are 1-15 which is one short of a full deck which is 1-10+Jack, Queen, King, Ace. Then there is also Doc Scratch and Lord English.

If we're playing decode Casilu then that would leave the MC with little room to claim. 4 MC members most likely. Which means the Felt may be missing some members. So yeah, false role claiming might be tough.
Casilu2010-11-08 02:45:39
Oh, one last piece of advice, you might want to look over some of my old games to look for wrenches in the works.
Ssaliss2010-11-08 02:51:26
Considering that we chose the cards ourselves randomly, I'm not sure how much they can mean. To break it down though:

There are three diamonds in play; Ace, four and six.
There are four hearts in play; Ace, two, eight and Queen.
There are two clubs in play; Ace and two.
There are five spades in play; Ace, five, six, Jack and King.
There is a Joker in play.

Make of that what you wish; jumping to conclusions probably won't give any clues. Doesn't make it less fun, of course...
