I hope we get another reincarnation from this
I do too. That way, I can get the heck out of storm trill.
Xiel2010-11-12 20:48:48
Also, unless I'm missing something, Ascendant-folk can't help test the changes themselves cause we can't reincarnate without admin help. Can't we just get the edge of the abyss to be an alternative place to reincarnate into a race as besides the portal of fate?
Unknown2010-11-12 20:53:23
Should just have a command on the test server to hand out free cameos.
Unknown2010-11-12 20:58:48
I didn't have to die to reincarnate as an ascendant. I just entered the portal alive and did it.
Xiel2010-11-12 21:12:22
Oh, dandy.

That's just not fair. I have to die.

Are these the only changes to races so far?
Xiel2010-11-13 00:28:54
On the server, looks like it. Unless they poke other things about, nothing much else to test.
I still worry about the speed Faeling melee people will be getting, since they're already quite speedy now with weapons alone. Alongside of that bit about the mugwump+dsong apparent trouble.

Thats what I thought... just surprised that in 6 weeks of race rebalance month, a whole 4 numbers got changed...
Eventru2010-11-13 01:11:49
Sior mentioned to me earlier some more changes he was considering, so it's not everything.

Yes please. Furrikin lost 12% resistance for 3% weakness and 2% equilibrium. They were already shunned for combat prior to this.
Just a note... resists and weaknesses were halved. So you lost 10% resists total and reduced weakness 5%. Furrikin could use a little less squish but they are a lovely race for some guilds (inherent somersault! woo!).
Unknown2010-11-13 01:59:25
I'm interested to see how people value speed/eq bonuses/maluses in relation to resistances/weaknesses. Personally, I feel like getting faster is much, much more preferred compared to getting tankier, since there's DMP.
Xiel2010-11-13 03:01:11
I still wonder why the level 2 eq bonus funkiness! Go go symmetry.

Clearly the buff Furrikin have been waiting for! Go go lvl 2!

I'd like a point of con, but that's just because I somehow only ever play 11 con races and seeing new numbers would be fun for once. Lvl 2 equilibrium would be fun too.

If what we want to achieve is game balance, then speed bonuses and maluses will have to go. Races can be balanced without them, and as we can see, they're imbalancing on any race with a major buff/weakness (see: Tae'dae, Mugwump). I'd not be opposed to getting rid of speed bonuses/maluses entirely for the sake of game balance, as long as the races that were affected got buffed somewhere else accordingly.
Aerotan2010-11-13 08:28:49
Homogeny is not the only way to achieve balance. While it might be simpler to balance the races by making race purely cosmetic, that's simply not the dynamic Lusternia the admins or even most players want.
I like that the fleet-footed catfolk are faster than most, and that the frog-people are better at spell-casting than other races, and that, to me, is what those bonuses represent to me.

You mean 20% right? 4 levels of resistance, and 1 level of weakness.

Some race-specific (including human evolution) updates.
Please log in and make comments. We're still looking into faelings at this time but we haven't decided yet on which path to take.
