My point is that people are letting others ruin the game for them 
Other people CANNOT ruin ANYTHING in life for you unless you literally say "What you are doing is ruining some part of enjoyment from whatever I am doing". It's standard psychology.. if you mind your business and just accept that people act the way they want to act, then you'll find that very little can bother you or "ruin" any type of experience whether it be in game or RL.

Excusing it as "just a game" is missing the point. This is a multi-user game, and thus if people engage in activity that hurts the game for the majority, it hurts the game as a whole. It's the same thing as engaging in griefing or trolling--whether it is trivial in the grand scheme of life is sort of a straw man argument.
for the first real life year I played this game, I more or less played it as a single player thing and quite enjoyed myself. I would say to the point I still play this more of a single player game.

That's kind of what I meant by people playing it their way. The problem is, as much as you may play it as a single player, you still have to more or less have a little bit of interaction with other people, and most players will leave you alone if they know you just wish to bash or do quests by dropping the right hints. But you obey the rules, and nothing is wrong.

- I could get into a car crash because somebody else drove drunk.
- I could lose my job because somebody did something unethical and bankrupted the company.
- My son and daughter could be crying because somebody next door is playing music too loud.
- I could miss my flight because an airline attendant screwed something up.
The actions of others affects our lives and happiness in many ways. I think the whole point is, if you do something that hurts the overall game in the long term--and there's enough experience in the gaming world and this company to know the detrimental effects certain things have--it encourages others to leave and seek enjoyment elsewhere, which then hurts the company producing the game.

Does anyone else find that offensive? It's basically saying that no, you cannot have the maturity to restrict yourself to using something properly. You are to be treated as a child.
