PS. Raiding everyday is a reason it is nerfed so bad... stop doing it
No, it isn't. The nerfing of raids come from the level of mechanical grief as opposed to 'player' grief. At this point in time, there is no mechanical grief - just nebulous 'player' grief.
Example of Mechanical Grief:
1. Killing Supernals and Demonlords/Ladies to harm a mechanical function of a class (Deepbonds and etc)
Example of Player Grief:
1. Killing players on a Cosmic plane who are in no way obligated to defend but do so anyways.
If raiding is 'nerfed' in some way, it has to be mechanically.. something we are not attacking. We raid daily because honestly, what other way exists to wage war on our enemy org?
Xiel2010-12-05 05:55:19
Converting fleshpots! Of course, this requires actually getting enough people to tank it all, but still.

When we can attack fleshpots, kill them, and convert them via our conflict quest, I believe we'll finally stop raiding daily because killing every fleshpot is a pretty solid 'we win'.
Oh, and why cry about raiding when you bring it on yourself? Hallifax did Fire, I joined the day after they tried Vortex raiding, I accompanied to get rid of some of my 'Gaudiguch kicked me' bitterness - now we do it because for some reason, you guys keep biting our heels asking for more by not punishing people who kill our newbies, or smacking our Air Lords or some other nonsense. Honestly, nobody IC can say they wouldn't do it if the situation was reversed, too - because for a long time, the situation WAS reversed.

Clearly the conflict quest needs to be implemented! Dun dun duuuun.

Yes, please. I'd love for that to be the case.
On the topic of that, does the fae conversion nonsense count as a conflict quest?
Unknown2010-12-05 06:01:37
Good luck killing smobs.
Eventru2010-12-05 06:01:55
It exists!
Xiel2010-12-05 06:02:51
Eh, could, but rarely happens since if you do it, both communes inevitably come down against it. Unless we get the whole cities vs communes thing happening again anyway, I don't think you'd see it happen much.

Is it overtly obvious, or is it something we can find evidence of/find a 'breadcrumb' to, as Blizzard calls them (i.e, some kind of signal that a conflict quest exists from some notable, typically passed/used source that could tell us who to go to to begin it/initiate the processes of it)?
EDIT: Or do you mean the 'give fleshpots to x' or whatever conversion quest? Because I figured conflict quests were a more expansive category than 'kill smobs, guys!'
Xiel2010-12-05 06:04:11
I think that, since the last time this was brought up, the nexus tenders were the ones who'd give you the hint if you said the right things. Go forth and find out!

Oh man. So very, very far from true I mean first you have to grief them from getting essence (or whatever they must get) to recover them. THEN you need to grief them for thwarting your attempts to stop them. Then you need to do it again because the grace period has worn off and you can. Not to mention counter raids for counter raids. It's like you're new here or something.

I suppose I am new to the process of 'BS smob resurrection'. Why precisely are smobs so incredibly mechanically important if they are/were killable is beyond me, really. I also don't see why it is always necessary to prevent people from rezzing their pots/spheres/angels/demons, really - I mean, I see the mechanical advantage and the obvious application of it from a war point of view (and that is how I would justify it if I indulged).. but even I have a heart, for all the things I say to Furien lately. I would only really engage in that level of prevention if they had done something really unforgivable to deserve it.. but then again, I have self-control for the most part - something that a large portion of IRE's community seems to lack I suppose.

I OOCly found out about that not too long ago. Give Caerulo a quick message, and I'll be able to handle that.

The "They did it first" argument is a staple of Lusternia and you will find pages and pages of it scattered throughout the forum.(I am sure I can get Lendren to speak on it) It is a falsehood because at the root you will find it is not for retaliation, but you do it just cause you can.
And I am not crying about raiding. I said stop doing it everyday. Everyday becomes a chore. I am a grown man. I pay people who dont speak english to do my chores for me so I dont have to.

If raiding or defending is a chore, refer to my previous example of 'player grief'. You do not have to defend - nothing is forcing you to, nobody is strapping you to the chair threatening your life. If you are not having fun in Lusternia, as somebody (Shamarah, I think?) once said, stop playing for the day. Log off. Ask somebody on AIM to tell you when the raid is done. Go in to a manse, say you're busy, or act AFK. It honestly is not difficult to find a reason to not defend - and half of the reason raids occur is to get a response to kill those that either cause problems for the org or notable players who do not leave the confines of Avenger-infested Prime.

As far as I know it's a 'give fleshpot to x' quest. I triggered the 'breadcrumb' mob reply during the opening of the Institute event.

... Is this a reference or something?
edit, @Rod: It is a bit more expansive than that. Killing smob X allows you to convert it to, in our case, attack Drachou, who will eventually die. He's shielded like the generator is ,via the butterfly quest. If he dies, the smobs will then attack the Flame and steal power.
Unknown2010-12-05 06:17:59
If players can do something, it will be done. Repeatedly. Then with enough complaints, it will be made impossible to do.
Then it just starts over!
Then it just starts over!

If this thread is to be constructive, you'll want to drop the 'why' argument. There is no logic as to 'why' people keep raiding, they just do. Everybody always blames the other guy.
