Interesting. Lusternias map data has 186 areas, 14847 rooms.
The areas in Lusternia's map don't always correspond with the actual areas to which the rooms are assigned. "Elemental Plane of Fire" is one area on the map, for instance, but it's actually broken into five areas based on what comes up in survey.
As for the number of rooms, Lusternia's map has the seas mapped, which I am guessing accounts for much of the discrepancy. There are also areas that are no longer accessible and thus not on my map like Czigany, etc.

So, Sham, just to clarify: this will kill m&m?
Sorry, Vadi, m&m is great, but the Mudlet mapper's not doing it for me.

I don't really know, since I've never used it. Mudbot does indeed strip the ATCP, but I dunno if m&m actually relies on that entirely or if you'll just lose a little functionality or what.
Vadi2010-12-12 00:02:57
It relies on ATCP or GMCP entirely for some pretty core basics, like your stats.
Shamarah2010-12-12 03:38:32
While I've never used m&m, it seems to me that it couldn't possibly be that hard to change it to capture health values off the prompt instead of ATCP.

My understanding is that ATCP allows for maximum health/mana/ego checking too, which is a bit of a requirement for certain things. Unless you want to rely on checking your score frequently.

Yep; ATCP and GMCP tells you current and max ego, mana and health, along with current and max power, endurance and willpower. And that's only the vitals side of it (although it's likely all that's used for a standard combat system).

Plus you get the advantage of supporting every single possible prompt combination possible easily.

Sorry, I thought I edited the answer into my post but apparently then the forums exploded on me. The map currently has 12677 rooms in 189 areas.
Thanks! I still may buy it just to spend half a week going through it all for anything I missed since I'm crazy like that.
I'm still annoyed that the Tree of Trees upper levels aren't considered the same local area as the base four.
Morbo2010-12-18 23:30:22
Does this work with things like abjure window or farsight to show what area people are in off of the room name?
Shamarah2010-12-19 00:30:41
Not at the moment, although I've been meaning to get around to implementing that for a while. However, you can always pretty easily trigger it to search for the room.

This is a helpful reminder that the special discounted price expires tomorrow at midnight!
Daraius2010-12-31 15:25:57
Guys, I've literally had only about 20 minutes to fiddle around with this and I'm totally sold already. Even if you miss the deadline for the deal, you ought to pick this up.
Unknown2010-12-31 17:30:10
If it only it were compatible with m&m ='( I think I'll still pick it up though.
Shamarah2010-12-31 18:29:20
Like I said, tell Vadi to make a version of his system that doesn't rely on GMCP. <.<
