I wanted to stick my head in confirming that I'm here. I got a 3-day weekend and so I'm kinda away from computer til tomorrow.
This deadline saddens me for that reason. I too find pushing for a No-lynch weird but I don't know. AllergicToScabies gets a suspicion for (if I count right, putting Ssaliss at lynch-1, even if it is for a weird deadline.
So I'm here but will be more here tomorrow. I don't want to drop hammer on Ssaliss unless Jack is gonna be strict w this deadline (has everyone even checked in yet?) but agree that a lynch of someone who looks fishy is better for us than a nolynch, so I will if deadline holds.

And, just to prove I'm not town, I'll tell you in advance that I have the power to turn day into night without a lynch. Strange power for a town to have, which is why I never intend to use it. The fact that it's still day means that I never intended the no-lynch to start with.
Wait. To prove you're not town??

I have no ulterior motive, really. Sure, feel free to talk, but I've only seen first-day lynches hit town. That is my sole reason for my standpoint.
Feel free to try to convince me otherwise though!

So... you're voting for me for getting people to talk? I already explained that I have no intention of pushing for a no lynch, nor was it ever my intention.
Riiiight. Am I the only one who sees a blatant contradiction here? First you basically say that you're gonna want to push for a no lynch, then you say that you've never intended to push for a no lynch.
QUOTE (Ssaliss @ Jan 16 2011, 08:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Well... the main point of me posting about no lynching was generally to get people to talking, so... mission accomplished, I suppose? I had expected someone to take the ruse and back me up on the no-lynch after I made my posts though, but no such luck
I have made one observation though: Gleip is generally a very aggressive player. Personally, I think the only reason he was so "mellow" during the last game (aside from day 1) was because he was Harry, so he shouldn't draw attention to himself. Which begs the question; why is he so quiet this time around? It's been a full day and then some since my first post about the no lynch, and he hasn't made a single post. Is he trying to lay low this round as well?
Oh, and regarding the people commenting about my no lynch posts... The oddest comment so far has been Tekoras, I think. He made a single post in the beginning voting for me because I was the first one to mention it, but hasn't joined in the discussion at all since then. At least Othero argued back with me, and Ileein and I had a civil conversation about it.
Perhaps just oddities, but they're the ones that stood out the most to me.

So first you accuse me about acting atypically, adding the clause that last time I acted atypically it was because I needed to stay alive for the scum to not win. Then you accuse Tekora for... acting like he always does?
Really, the only way I'm not hammering you is to avoid any power nonsense now that the deadline triggers as soon as Jack returns.

Yeah, sorry. Minor mistype there. I think my brain switched between "prove that I'm town" and "prove that I'm not scum".

Well, obviously you'll see a contradiction there. Which part of "it was a ruse" didn't you get?

You really are quite defensive of the so called "ruse", not to mention your "mistype" earlier.

Well, to be frank, at this point it wouldn't matter what I did I'm unlikely to get six people to unvote for me before the deadline anyway.
But let's assume I was scum. Would I not then use my powers to turn the day into night, without me being lynched, essentially buying two "free" kills for us? Or heck, keep my head low during day 1 so I wouldn't attract attention?
Ssaliss2011-01-17 13:28:18
Oh, and for anyone thinking I'll wait until the last possible moment... the deadline ends in about two minutes by my count. So this is (quite literally) the last minute

Not always.
I'm not sure how you turning day to night would get two kills, considering most scum only kill one person as a group.

Today, turn night into day, scum kills this night. Tomorrow, I repeat, scum gets another kill. Day three, you lynch me. That's two kills for scum that wouldn't have happened unless I used my powers.

We likely would have noticed someone was turning the day to night, and I'm betting it has to be advertised in some form. That's a strangely overpowered and rather strange power in general for someone Town to have.

I agree. Not to mention I do it by posting the name of one of the songs from my band here, so there's absolutely no way to be sneaky about it either (you'll rarely see me posting about love, after all). Ah well. All shall be revealed soon enough, I suppose.
Ssaliss2011-01-17 13:40:29
By the way... Is there actually any case where such a power is useful for town? The only case where I can see it being useful is to either A) save my own hide, which essentially only delays the inevitable, or B) saving the hide of someone else that I know is town (and there's probably better ways to go about doing that anyway).
Diamondais2011-01-17 13:43:08
The night tends to be more for scum and special townies, so the ability to change day to night is just all that more suspect when mentioned. You probably would've had a better chance convincing us otherwise if you had just not brought it up.

Yeah... Convincing six people in two hours isn't something I'm capable of. Plus, I very much doubt that six of the seven that voted for me have actually read what I've written so far, so as soon as that deadline came, I was lynched anyway.
Ssaliss2011-01-17 13:46:34
And my question was actually serious. Is there any way I could've used that power for the benefit of the town? I started out with the assumption that I was dispensable, and the rest kinda followed since everyone was quiet.
Diamondais2011-01-17 13:50:30
I don't really view the ability to change day to night as a useful ability for the town, it just doesn't help us as much as it does scum. Sure, if we have an investigator/jailer/roleblocker/doctor/etc. they'd be able to operate, but that's usually only a smaller part of the town (unless this is one of those games where everyone has a power).
Now, if you had a power that could change night to day, you'd be a little better off.

Yeah, that'd be an awesome power.

Town had such a power, along with resurrection and a ton of other OP abilities in the first Touhou game. That was a very interesting game, where even though half of the starting scum-team were identified before the game begun, scum still won due to clever play. Sure, they won by reaching a win condition that wasn't "become majority", but it's still a good example on how clever play overcomes powerplay.

Not sure if I was in that game, didn't remember town having it before.
