I was tossing ideas on a clan around and some people seemed to like them, so I thought I would post them here and other people could chip in. :-)
1. Remove weight cost from Avatar Resurrection, but leave the 20mil power to purchase it.
--This makes Avatar Rez sort of like Veneration, you can spend a good bit of essence on it, but it doesn't count against your total weight.
2. Give Avatars +15 or +25 weight.
--This would be limited to the select people who are in Orders and their divine finds them worth of Avatar. Also allows for more Avatar powers to be added in (outside of Veneration), and still require weight.
3. Add a new skill to Veneration (or an Avatar skill), that lets you reform in your Patron's godrealm, similar to how ascendants reform.
--Dying a losing demigod would suck. It would suck a whole lot more if you spent the 75mil to get Veneration, another 10mil to get a cult, and then however much you've spent to learn Veneration (120mil at trans?) and then something happens and you die and lose all of it. Could have this under the rationale that your Patron's sheltering hand prevents you from losing your divine spark, causing you instead to be drawn into His/Her realm to reform.
That's what I've thought of. I'm happy to hear opinions or see other additions, since Eventru mentioned they might be looking for new things to add to Veneration in the future.

As Eventru said in the other thread, this is a pretty strong ability. In comparison, Breath of Life, which is more limited than Avatar Resurrection other than the order requirement is 30 weight and 20 million essence.
2. Give Avatars +15 or +25 weight.
--This would be limited to the select people who are in Orders and their divine finds them worth of Avatar. Also allows for more Avatar powers to be added in (outside of Veneration), and still require weight.
I think the gap between Ascendants and demigods should diminish, but this change would be neither here nor there. While demigods would be able to make use of the extra weight, so too would ascendants. I think Veneration is intended to be where future expansions to the Avatar system goes, rather than powers.
3. Add a new skill to Veneration (or an Avatar skill), that lets you reform in your Patron's godrealm, similar to how ascendants reform.

You shouldn't lose demigod, especially after you've already got at least 85 million. If you lose it then, it's entirely your fault for not taking better care of your essence reserves.

I'm not sure how having avatar resurrect be 0 weight is OP or crazy. I don't have a big problem with having it cost essence to purchase, my biggest problem and the thing I don't understand is why it takes up weight. Veneration is 0 weight and is a full skillset. How does that compare to Avatar Rezz? Also BoL is limited in range while Avatar Rezz isn't, but BoL isn't limited in other way.
Avatar Rezz: only usable once per day, costs 250,000 essence, can only be used on order members
BoL: unlimited number of uses, can be used on anyone, cost based one use per day~
1st use: 35,000 (35,000 total per day)
2nd use: 70,000 (105,000 total per day)
3rd use: 105,000 (210,000 total per day)
So I don't think you can really say Avatar Rezz is an awesome version of BoL since they both have their own limits. I just think it is weird that it's like... Congratulations on getting Avatar! But to use one of your Avatar powers you're going to have to use up some of your power weight-- even though your other Avatar powers are free and Veneration doesn't cost weight even though it has a lot more things.
That doesn't make much sense to me.
Rika2011-01-29 20:30:32
You haven't taken into account the fact that BoL is 30 weight.
Nydekion2011-01-29 23:42:14
Avatar resurrection was around before the current demi point system, with the same restrictions, and proved to not be an issue. With the current system, there's really nothing added that would make it more or less readily abuseable.

Would we be able to make a way so Demigods/Ascendants can trade in their essence for lessons?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Not going to happen.

Limit orders to one avatar each.

Maybe if leveling characters can also trade in their exp for lessons. Which probably need it more, because at Demi you should be able to bash solidly, considering I can do it at 86 as a guardian ¬¬

Well no as, as a leveling character you get lessons everytime you get a circle... and then bound credits every 5 circles you get up until 70. As a Demigod enless you get credits thats it and not everyone like hunting/influencing for gold, they do it for EXP so they don't get the gold they need for credits.
@Malicia might not but it would be nice!

No because then Seren/Celest get 3-4 avatars each to Gaudi/Halli's 1.

Also contradicts the entire design, which is that each cult venerates a specific aspect of the god.

Except not, considering that most gods are inactive from what I've heard...

Celest: Eventru/Lyreth/Terentia
Magnagora: Raezon/Morgfyre(appointed one before leaving)/Fain
Serenwilde: Hoaracle/Maylea/Charune(appointed one before leaving)/Lisaera(appointed one before leaving)
Glomdoring: Shikari/Virivain/Nocht
Gaudiguch: Kalikai
Hallifax: Elostian
So, yeah. Even discounting gods without avatars, Gaudi and Halli get screwed on that deal.

Have all the avatars you want... if they're fun RP stuff and don't affect combat at all (i.e., no buffs). Let's not even talk about shrines.

The free lessons and bound credits are little when compared to what you need for getting anywhere in just your guild skills. Also, as a Demi, why would you really care for exp other than the keep your essence up? I'd have thought people got Demi because it helps with making gold faster, aside from pvp and rp.
Also, if you could trade in essence for credits, I am sure Demis would aetherhunt their brains out, the gap between non-Demi and Demi players would grow even higher (in terms of credits owned) and the credit market would drop down, which might be nice for those buying credits with gold, but not so nice for those wanting to make gold ingame from the credits they bought.
Then again, even when you let both essence and exp buy credits, I can't see it having a positive effect. If there is really too much essence and too little to be done with it, maybe some temporary stuff that essence can be sunk into would be acceptable? Thinking of vanity / limitedly useful things here.
Everiine2011-02-27 03:35:55
Essentially, this is a "Make it easier for me to get what I want" argument. If you don't like to hunt, do what everyone else who doesn't like to hunt does--aetherbash or influence. Or get a sweet trade and make gold that way and buy credits.

Cults require the god to be founded (since the god needs to type the command).
Unknown2011-02-27 04:31:51
Well, I suppose that does limit the severity of the disadvantage that the two new cities would face given that change, but it does not eliminate it, but rather shifts the advantage away from Serenwilde and towards Glomdoring. Still do not support.

Erm if you read my orginal post I said essence for LESSONS, not credits. That way they are personal and can't be sold. That way a Demigod can still advance in their skills but they have to work for them.
