Or rather, how they group up. Do they all share the same spawn point and just spread out from there?

Pretty sure that's how mobs are s'posed to work. I think. It's just that that hallway has so many two exit rooms that they tend to go into one end and clump up before getting through the other. Like corn, really.

It's always been a bit annoying how the random movement algorithm tends to gravitate towards the northeast.

I wonder if it's set up to check each direction seperately, and NE just happens to be first. Or something. Outside the scope of this thread, though, so...

nope

Also note that the cult essence is what's used when the avatar does the meditating, so it wouldn't really matter much if someone else could do it. Everyone in the cult can contribute to the pool (by offering), and that's what really determines the progress.

Actually, the majority are set to reset all over the realm (very annoying to setup), but they also randomly reset. Their clumping is odd, but little to be done about it!

The reason the cult avatar must be the one to venerate is because what he is venerating (and pouring essence into) is strengthening the bond between him and his god - seems inappropriate for someone else to be doing that for you.

Now I'm imagining a bunch of cultists gluing their Avatar to the God, with him flailing about and protesting.
