The Angry Centipede kind of seems like a fun Glomdoring character.

We already have salamanders, and it's not just Asmodea, it's the whole Spiritsinger ancestor-y thing. And Albion, I guess.
The only serenwilde specific abilities that directly relate to winter are spirit chill and NatureRhythm during winter tmk. You can make the argument that spirits relate because winter is the time of death and all, but aside from chill they'd relate more to autumn imo (autumn being the time of the harvest and a transition between life and death). Same with albion, though mainly because I find her relating to the waning moon more than the dark.
With the avatars, the aspects and just the general layout of etherwilde, Serenwilde is more about complete cycles to me. Everything in balance as it should be, no one part of the cycle more important than the others. Some might focus on one part of the cycle (guild paths relating to one part, for example) but the end goal should be balance.

Back before the revamp that gave us spirits, one of the ideas being floated for a focus for Wildarrane was winter and cold, but that was dropped. I agree that the seasons should be represented more or less equally in Seren skills, and I always thought they could afford to be used more than they are, given how prominent they are in Etherwilde.

It'd be interesting at the least, Stag druidry could do it and maybe some seasonal fae could work?

I've been suggesting we bring it back a bit in the Moondancers, but everyone seems happy with the intense devotion to Moon's aspects to the exclusion of everything else.
Shiri2011-02-04 17:38:38
Could go with the lunar theory of seasons!

I've written some seasonal rituals, I'm just not sure about incorporating it into moon. I'd be all for a tert that involved a seasonal theme though (mainly because I can see it becoming linked to sun too)
Sylphas2011-02-04 18:15:55
I'm not sure that "Sun can have this later!" fits Estarras "we want more shared terts" idea, but it would be cool. I'd probably grab it if it was at least as useful as Astro for combat. (What am I saying, of course I'd grab it, just dunno if I'd mainline it as my tert or not).

It's not so much that, I've just been wondering if there might be a base skill that is serenwilde only and based on the seasons, possibly branching into a HS and MD spec (possibly with the idea of deepening the bond with the cycles of nature). That base could be shared with Jojobo if they ever come out. But it would need to get past Estarra and would probably end up with everyone wanting an org specific tert.

I'll be Eventru/Estarra for a moment:
Not going to happen. Next?

Instead of being negative, you could try to come up with something to contribute.
Also, I would still rather an actual response from Estarra as to whether this would ever be considered, considering that the source of this is actually the following quote
QUOTE (Estarra @ Jan 27 2011, 08:28 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
On the other hand, what I have been considering (though I don't want to go into detail), would be more tertiary choices that could be shared among certain guilds (at least more than one). If you have ideas along those lines, feel free to share!
Even if guild specific specs were not included, a seasonal tert for Serenwilde does not seem beyond the given scope.

The problem is, of course, balancing it for all the guilds that will have it. That's far from easy. It's one thing to balance it among all guardians, or for warriors, but the way the communes share skills between archetypes ups the ante a ton.

As always, but I can try to dream. This is the problem with sharing everything...

I'm somewhat in the same boat, or at least a boat of similar design.

oh, don't say the word design. Bad lines of thought what has lead us to this point.
Shiri2011-02-05 05:44:59
The problem isn't even balance so much as all the work it's gonna take. So Rika's "not gonna happen" is about as constructive as it's gonna get. Move to a different line of thought.

I think half the posts I see from Saran on the forums are some big over-reaching idea for a new skillset or some huge addition to existing ones.
