You should talk to the head honchos at IRE and get rid of the dingbat pyramid scheme and make these regular credit arties. I know it is a sales gimmick but it is also a little insulting. I was hoping for an artifact package sale this month as I have a shopping list for my manse. I would also suggest previewing the monthly specials before the last day of the prior month.
Or, add more events/questy bits that reward with dingbats. Since I joined a year ago (oh hey, it's my one year Lusternia anniversary today! ) I believe there have only been two? The leprechaun one, and the Wayfaire. The gnomes and Ironbeard had a chance to give dingbats, but that's just a tiny chance to get non-sticky dingbats, not a "hey, do this and you will get some (sticky) dingbats. Yay!" It would be nice to have more ways to get dingbats that don't involve spending money. And since the ones you get from events are sticky, there's still an incentive to get the non-sticky type from the sales.

Oh god I miss the toy event. It rained dingbats. More of those please.

Eh, I'd rather just pay IRE for the dingbats. I'd really like 300 dingbats but I honestly do not need 2,000 credits.

And I want 300 dingbats but don't have $2k. Hopefully, the dingbats would be cheaper without the cubix attached.

Yeah, wanted dingbats > supply of dingbats, even before all these new toys.
Either set a hard-coded 'conversion rate' for (bound) credits to (sticky) DBs (3cr per would be an acceptable ceiling, IMO-- that way, if you wanted to sell your own dingbats, they'd still be around the same rate). Either that, or release more ways to get dingbats IG, or something. There are so many (fun, highly wanted) toys, but not enough ways to get the dingbats to buy said toys.

Isn't the dingbat conversion rate 2-1?

I was working off the assumption that IRE wasn't going to change their system. That would certainly be preferable, but then there wouldn't even be a reason to have them as separate things anymore.

Right now, yes, but with the market at least I expect it to skyrocket.

From what I hear, it rained dingbats to certain people.

Perhaps a way to earn a special kind of sticky dingbat, a gnomish boondollar, that had a cap of say fifteen or twenty, so people could buy all the little things like dolls or such?
With this currency being earned through long and arduous questing, of course.

Let's just say there's a reason why -I- wanted it back.
But still, more events or games with dingbat rewards would be swell. Like that aetherspace scavenger hunt.

Or how about if/when you update the ACHIEVEMENTS, offer dingbat incentives rather than lessons or XP bonuses. In addition to the Czignay Wayfaire (sp) and this year's stocking artie, it would be nice to have a way to "earn" some random dingbats other than credit sale rewards or elite membership.
Lendren2011-02-01 02:35:16
If Jeremiah traded 2cr for 1db (so he can save up for his own cubix), the existing trade of dingbats for credits/gold would still happen, because of people wanting a better trade value, but the people who want dingbats enough to buy them would get their wish, too. It'd take a lot of the impetus for a dingbat market away, too.

Oh, I like that. But I imagine to make it work, you'd have to make the dingbats you receive sticky, because any idea that removes incentive to spend money for dingbats probably isn't going to fly.
Ssaliss2011-02-01 02:44:41
I'm guessing there's a reason there isn't a fixed rate for converting golds to credits. That reason could also be applied to this suggestion.
Unknown2011-02-01 02:55:18
I think selling dingbats would be a good business strategy, but they would probably be expensive.
Dingbats are essentially frequent flier miles. You can straight up buy them if there's a reward you want to get to, but it's going to cost you.

Well... huh?
If you are trading credits for dingbats then you are effectively spending money to buy dingbats.

If you are trading gold for dingbats then yes, if trading credits for dingbats then no.

Or you could just pay for the thing you want to redeem with the flier points.
