Greetings! I am Zuo Ci, and welcome to Romance of the Three Kingdoms Mafia: Struggle for Unity! I have been tasked to guide you through your trials and ordeals that are let to come!

In this game, you'll take the place of a famous general of the Three Kingdoms era and vie against the other legendary figures of the time to bring peace to China and reunite the Three Kingdoms!

Here, you'll find representatives of the Three Kingdoms of Wei, Wu and Shu. The object of the game is to eliminate opposing generals while helping to protect your fellow generals. This is made more difficult by the fact that generals do not begin with knowledge of their comrades' identities nor do they have any means to communicate with them outside of posting in the thread, not even with their liege. Take care you do not mistake your Lord for an enemy on the tempestuous battlefield!

Voting takes place as normal. Every day, you will choose a general that you believe opposes your faction and bring your army to bear, for not even the mightest warrior can stand for long against the combined armies of many enemies!

But beware, loyal subjects of the Emperor. There are subversive forces at work that seek to bring down the Han Court and take China for their own! Not only must you fend off the opposing kingdoms, you must root out these rebels and preserve the sanctity of the Han!

With this game, there is a game mechanic that bears special mention. During the day, once per day, any general may lead their army out to challenge one of their opponents to face them in one-on-one combat. The challenged general may either accept the duel or decline. If the duel is accepted, no other duels may be offered that day.

Accepting the duel will result in resolution of the duel 'behind the GM's curtain'. The result of the duel will be posted in the thread in grand fashion, with the victorious general's army gaining morale and causing their vote to count for double that day, at the expense of the defeated general's ability to vote. If the challenged general declines, their army will become demoralized and they will lose their ability to fight, preventing them from voting that day. Additionally, with every duel, there is a 10% chance that the defeated general may be SLAIN!

So now, go forth mighty warriors, reunite China and preserve the Han!

...or take it for your own.

By Royal Decree of His Majesty, the Emperor of Han

Voting is required to be in the format ORDER ARMY TO ATTACK . Voting must be bolded to count.

Please WITHDRAW FORCES FROM if you wish to change your vote.

Day lasts until one of the following happens: a player has a majority of votes, ARMISTICE has a majority of votes, or a deadline comes.

Once a player or armistice hits a majority, it is Twilight. No amount of unvoting will make any difference at this point. You may continue to talk until I post the results of the lynch and declare that it is Night.

I reserve the right to call a deadline at any time if a day is taking too long. At deadline, the player with most votes will be lynched. In case of a tie, no one will be lynched.

After the day ends and the lynching occurs, it is Night. At this point, if your role allows it, you may talk to people via PM or PM your night choices to me. If you do not declare your night-choice within a reasonable window of time, I will count that as ‘No Action’. As a general rule of thumb, 'reasonable' will be 24 hours or so. Let me know if you're going to be absent and we'll sort out a workaround.

Day will restart as soon after Night deadline as possible.

Do not quote anything relevant to the game from outside the thread. That includes PMs or parts of PMs from me, PMs from people you can talk to at night, or random observations third parties make elsewhere. You're smart enough to paraphrase.

Do not talk about this game outside the game, unless your role permits. Only talk at night with your PMs. The conditions under which you may talk will be included in your role PMs.

Do NOT edit your posts. Ever. Period. Even to fix typos. Double post if you have to.

If you're not going to be available for more than 48 hours, let me know. If you're not going to be available for more than a week, I reserve the right to find a replacement.

I reserve the right to EXECUTE anyone who breaks either the game or these rules. They really aren't very hard. If you are unsure as to whether you are breaking a rule, PM me to clarify.

As a note, I'm not going to be EXECUTING people for determining scum by looking at people's profile views. It's your own fault if you get caught that way. Don't PM via the profile, because everyone can see you visited theirs.

The Empire long united, must divide. The Empire long divided, must unite. Turmoil and Chaos will reign until one Kingdom rises to claim the Mandate of Heaven and unite China under their banner!

After 400 years of peace and prosperity under the Han, the land grows turbulent as natural disasters and famine blight the whole of the Empire. In the face of hardship, many make the wild claim that the Han Court has lost the Mandate of Heaven and begin to rise up against the Court in a wide-spread rebel uprising known as the Yellow Turban Rebellion. In response, Grand General He Jin has called upon the regional warlords to quell this rebellion and restore order to the Han!

It is 184 AD, and the winds of change are blowing. To arms, heroes!

As the gathered armies assemble on the battlefield, a sudden rumble shakes the land as a nearby mountain pass suffers a devastating rockslide. When the dust settles, Ssaliss and his army can be seen having just passed through before the rocks fell... but some of his rear guard were not so fortuitous.

The battle continues...

SO CONFUSE
Llesvelt2011-02-17 06:37:56
While my enemies wallow in confusion, I will slaughter for my liege!

Also, hi guys!
Razenth2011-02-17 06:39:06
He looks okay. Maybe one of those subversives used a day ability on him!
Llandros2011-02-17 06:43:02
Ok, my understanding of things is that we are all in china during a time when the country is broken up into three factions

Everyone is either pro-han (town) or anti-han (scum)

The factions may play into things at some point but the focus is on killing the anti-han.
Llesvelt2011-02-17 06:45:17
Actually, I think it is more like, we have three kingdoms who oppose each other, but are all pro-Han, they just are not on the same page regarding who should control the empire or somesuch.

And then the anti-Han.

So it is like, a four-faction battle, except three of the factions are half-way united in their hate of the fourth? I guess?
Llandros2011-02-17 06:50:10
Sigh, I was hoping someone without a clear picture would respond to that first not knowing that the pro-han have a two fold win condition but at least it seems you are pro-han!
The hunt continues!

The Three Kingdoms period was a very turbulent time in Chinese history. The weakening of Han authority meant that regional warlords began gaining great power. While they obstensibly all were working to maintain the Han Dynasty, in reality they were all jockeying for power. After Dong Zhou's palace coup and the death of the last legitimate Han Emperor, everything was up for grabs, eventually coalescing into the titular Three Kingdoms: Wei, founded by the infamous Cao Cao and based in the north; Wu, founded by southerner Sun Quan and based in the southeast; and Shu, founded by the humanitarian Liu Bei, based in the southwest. Each faction fought each other during this period, alliances shifting back and forth. After several generations (in fact, I think some of the kingdoms were actually founded by descendents of the major factional leaders) the last Wei king was overthrown by the Sima clan, a family who most famous member was probably Sima Yi, the great Wei strategist and sworn foe to his Shu counterpart, Zhuge Liang. The Sima clan would establish the Jin Dynasty after finally reuniting Chin after years of war.
