I was only considering two initial cult members. Which Ronin game is being referred to here?
We've already named the likely Yellow Turban candidates, if they exist in this game. But what about Dong Zhuo's group? I can find quite a few names through Wikipedia, but I was wondering if there were any particularly prominent generals from the games.

Doubt@Mirami's theory.
There's still plenty of possible scum possibilities besides Yellow Turbans. Why are we still discussing this?

A cult that started with three members would be stupefyingly, game-breakingly strong.
Why? I'm not saying they'd be able to add three people per night, just that there are three in there to start with. I can't see why it would be so unbelievably broken, to be quite honest...

Cults usually start with just the cult leader. Cults usually are very hard to stop, and giving them a two day/night cycle advantage is huge.
Also, why do you all keep insisting that Zhang Bao and Zhang Liang -have- to be in the game? We don't know if they are even in the game or not. The novel has hundreds of named characters, maybe about half of them are notable. Doesn't mean that they're all going to be in this Mafia game.

A cult is more troublesome than a mafia group for couple reasons. First, as long as there is a recruiter, their numbers can grow. A mafia group's numbers can only go down. Second, they're harder to root out than mafia. It's a cult where the players don't know each other, then it's harder to look at their behaviour and see when they're working together. It's also difficult to say someone is definitely with the town because of alignment changes. For example, a cop investigates an innocent town person at night, and then the cult recruiter snags the same townie the next night.
For a cult to start with three members and have the potential to grow would make them over-powered and the game difficult to balance.
Right now, I think we should focus on identifying Dong Zhuo's group rather than continue speculating about the Yellow Turbans. I realise history/the novel/computer games says there were three of them, but Tekora's a good GM. He'd place balancing the game before following the theme/flavour. I'm about ready to vote for the next person who promotes the threat of the Yellow Turban group.

Ack. Didn't mean to bold cult, it's supposed to be a link.
Ssaliss2011-02-20 16:44:05
Hmm. While I did realize all the points raised beforehand, I didn't see it as overpowering (and, to be honest, I still don't see their two-night advantage to be that big in a game with 22 people). I don't really have any experience with cults though, so if you say it is a huge advantage, then okay.
Focusing on Dong Zhou's group (if there is a group, and he's not acting alone) sounds good for now though.

The link Xikue brought up raises an interesting rule(not necessarily) because it mentions that a Cult member will die if they try to recruit a Mafia member. Maybe that is what happened in this case? But, the ability to convert someone during day is somewhat odd...

Brainwash - Using the power of the Way of Peace, at night, you may choose an opposing general to influence and bring to your side as a supporter of the Yellow Turbans.
Ssaliss2011-02-20 18:56:10
Well... I'm not so sure about that. If that were the case, I think Casilu would have simply been found dead. To me, it more looked like a targetted daykill against her. That is purely going by the flavor of the death though.
Dynami2011-02-20 19:02:42
Oh, wow! Ignore what I said in the last post then!

In the games, it is mostly Lu Bu, Diao Chan and Zhang Liao. However, Lu Bu and Diao Chan went on to betray and kill him and Zhang Liao was under Lu Bu more then Dong Zhuo himself. Otherwise, there are heaps of other generals from the novel, but I think the more prominent ones include Guo Si and Li Jue.

All these names are making my head swim.

Bali, Silferras and Vendetta? What are your thoughts on everything? You've all made very few posts (Bali and Silferras with one each and Vendetta with two).
Shamarah2011-02-20 23:11:38
Yeah, if nobody has any better leads, we might as well lynch lurkers.

Hrm. That's helpful to know.
Sorry for the pinyin soup of names.
For lurkers, I've been eyeing Dynami and Bali. I forgot Silferras and Vendetta were even playing.
Sylandra2011-02-21 01:48:57
Silferras was especially vocal last Mafia game...bit odd she's not saying anything yet in this one.
...but to be honest there hasn't been much to comment on.

Seems to be mostly about guessing the mod on which characters are in the game and how the cult works the last few pages. :/
And also, the names!
Inactives are probably the best option for today, what we learned with Casilu's death isn't enough to point us in any right directions to our next target, and whomever had her killed is being rightfully quiet.

I have to agree with this.
ORDER ARMY TO ATTACK BALI.
