Well, there goes that.

I'm convinced that the battle was not entirely RNG-based, however.

People get (dis)advantages over others, but the rng still churns out a number that still plays a factor in who wins?

Ok, checking in to say I still have no clue... but maybe we should start speculating on make-up of the factions?

Let's say 5 on each of the pro-Han?

Someone who checks alignment? Forget the technical name
Leader, who could potentially have a nightkill? Or would that only be scum?
Is it a doctor who swaps roles? Not sure about this one...
A bodyguard or maybe what's the term, jailer?

As I said, first game, bound to be making loads of mistakes here.

I'm going to be embarrassed at my tyopes when I look at this while properly awake.
I think it's easier to speculate about the numbers rather than their skills or roles right now. And discussing our abilities so openly helps scum more than town.
http://mafiascum.net/ is a good place to go to read up on various roles.

Bed for real now.

That would be my guess, yes.

Or Tekora has a bunch of character sheets written out and he enacts these battles on a gameboard.

Well that makes things interesting.

Or maybe he calculates vowel-to-consonant ratio you use in your duel post, and whoever has a higher vowel ratio will win the duel!

WITHDRAW FORCES FROM Casilu

ARMISTICE

I don't think we can really get anything achieved here since we don't even know if there is a scum team. For all we know, it could be everyone is already in one of the three factions: Wei, Wu or Shu and we're just trying to see which faction we can randomly reduce today. I think a night for actions to take place would do us all some good.

While I can see that a no-lynch will probably be helpful, it's absolutely certain that there is a scum team.
Sylandra2011-02-18 08:57:05
I don't even know what the scum team would be in this scenario. Shedding light on this please?
Llesvelt2011-02-18 09:24:53
The scum team would probably be rebels if anything.

So, three kingdom "Town" groups who want to kill each other too, and a rebel "Mafia" group.

That is what I think, at least.
Ssaliss2011-02-18 11:14:44
I thought it was rather obvious that there is a scum-team...

"But beware, loyal subjects of the Emperor. There are subversive forces at work that seek to bring down the Han Court and take China for their own! Not only must you fend off the opposing kingdoms, you must root out these rebels and preserve the sanctity of the Han!"

As said earlier, it's very likely that this group is the Yellow Turbans.
Diamondais2011-02-18 11:49:07
Same, my impression of the beginning text and my role information suggests that there is a group that works against the Han empire, as well as the three factions within the empire. To say there isn't, or wouldn't be any aside of us with the Han would be silly, and suspect.

That's an odd assumption. It would, after all, mean that there are 15 pro-Han in total and 7 rebels. Or at least 7 that don't belong to any of the big pro-Han factions.
Ileein2011-02-18 11:57:01
Voting for Armistice is almost always a bad idea, as I understand it. =/
Razenth2011-02-18 12:01:13
The alternative would be 6 per faction, giving 4 rebels.

The possibilties include Dong Zhuo, Lu Bu, the three Yellow Turban brothers, Yuan Shao and his clan, and Meng Huo of the Namman barbarians. These are the major characters from Dynasty Warriors I can think of that can't be associated with any major faction. If Tekora is going by the novel version, or some kind of synthesis between the games and the novel, then we would have a much larger set of possibilities. Still, characters like Dong Zhou, Lu Bu, and Zhang Jue, leader of the Yellow Turbans seem to almost be given anti-Han characters given their characterization in history.
Ssaliss2011-02-18 12:12:27
There's also the possibility that the factions are not equal in size, with smaller factions having an edge when it comes to powers.
Unknown2011-02-18 12:17:33
I'd agree and say the opening introduction strongly suggests there's scum. In the immortal and oft misquoted words of Sun Tzu, we're totally making it easier for scum to win by going for a no lynch. This is a chance to get information on our own terms.

I think Razenth's number breakdown seems more plausible than 15 vs 7.

There's also the possibility that each Kingdom doesn't have the same number. I'd guess there's 3 to 5 outside proper Kingdom factions.
Ssaliss2011-02-18 12:19:35
My guess would be 5 or 6. It seems somewhat standard that the rebels would be roughly a quarter of the population.

I think it's typically under a quarter of the population in balancing a game, especially when there's various factions. I don't know what kind of powers are flying about though.
