And the point about the pliers is that you shouldn't have to spend a ridiculous amount of credits to switch spec or archetype (monks too!).
2x Vernal Knight: 1200
2x Vernal Champion: 1200
2x Elemental: 500
2x Bleeding: 250
Total: 3150 (1950 for monk)
That's before you include the credits for lessons. I've no problem stating that I think earning money is great, but the pliers come across as exploitation of the players that do support IRE rather than encouraging new people to join. IRE will get its money, but none of it will be from me.

Of course, if it's released at astronomical prices, then people simply won't buy them. Auctions show how much the richest of the richest in a certain group is willing to pay for an item. If pliers are to be sold to more than just a certain small subgroup of a subgroup of a subgroup, they'll need to be economically viable.

That doesn't necessarily mean that the richest of the richest are willing to pay a significantly different amount than just the regularly rich players. Most of the auctions I've seen have established pretty fair prices for items. Not sure about the pliers, since there seems to be an enormously heavy demand for them based off of envoys + forums so it might be stiff competition, but most of the time auctions are pretty fair indicators.

It's interesting with the pliers though. They can be pretty expensive, and still be economical for warriors and monks, but then they'll be far too expensive for anyone else to be interested. And considering the EoA, it went for far more than most can afford, and currently it's so expensive I'd snatch up a Cord anyday as it'd have more use than the EoA.

I have a suggestion for the planar rune.
Could it be made so that those with the planar rune can weave gates from known planes regardless of the distance between planes? This would make the rune much more useful for the overall playerbase so that they could turn around and use the rifts they just made.
It'd be similar to pathfinding boots where the owner can use pathways or in this case would be able to use rifts just as other pathfinder boot holders or those with the skill can do.

How exciting, the last day of the auction is here (for some people anyway). I can't wait to see who gets the really cool items and who pays way too much for the kinda cool items.

The wand of windwalls would be cool.! But it's getting expensive and is prolly already more than it's worth since they have a pretty low block rate (I've been told it's 10%).
The mana thing would be nice. But i'm sure it's going to cost thousands by the end of this and i don't have enough essence to fill up what powers i have room for now.
The binoculars might be helpful to know which mage to target. But I understand that's not hard to figure out anyway and again will likely get pretty expensive.
The extra essence gain from godrealm mobs would be nice and a fun rp thingie. But i'm not really an influence whore and the price would prolly make it not pay for itself, like ever, at least for me.

I'll be working overnight, then trying to get a couple hours of sleep, then turning around and going back almost immediately, making the auction sorta fail for me.
Seems like there should be a better way than "a week of meaningless bids followed by an hour of sniping for stuff you will either never be able to get, or have to wait a long time to MAYBE get."

To be fair, the utility of proxy bidding is somewhat less on Lusternia than it is on eBay because of how quantities of an item are done as multiple independent auctions, instead of one auction with a quantity. So if you bid up one auction, you could be paying a lot more than gaming two or three of them for the best deal. Therefore, there is a real benefit to sniping, not just the imaginary one that still makes it so popular on eBay. Maybe for the next auction we could get auction quantities implemented in Lusternia. There would still be sniping, of course, but it wouldn't actually affect the people who just did a proxy bid and then went to bed, that way.

Yeah, it's a tough call. If you really want something that you value at 100cr and it goes to someone else for 105 then that sucks.
On the other hand you don't want to put your whole escrow down on something and pay 2k cr for a 100cr item just because someone decided it was a must have item for them but dropped off before they came out ahead.
