I can't help but imagine that Xenthos went for the drums just so other people couldn't use it to un-wyrd the roads and everything else. Maybe I'm just biased.

I'd say you're biased; if that was the case I'd have tried to buy both.

I went for the drums specifically so as to be an absolutely amazing saver of time and power if I am in a hurry. I did state that the suggestion was a bit too strong... but hey, it got put in, so I'm happy to buy.

What on earth does Krellan need TWO Censers of Fire for?

For the aesthetic. Having only 1 on the mantle would be a bit too modern for his tastes.

All I have to say for myself with these auctions is ohman.

It would be helpful if there was -any- way to tell how many more bound credits you need to resolve.
Kiradawea2011-04-02 07:39:00
Level 4 crit rune. That people will pay so much. ohmy.gif

I could probably purchase a motorbike for that kind of money.

Every auction I have to issue to find out.

Needed mechanic is needed. Auctions shouldn't eat bound credits before resolving, then it'd be easy to tell.
Rika2011-04-02 07:43:04
I dunno, the level 4 crit rune looks reasonable when you compare them to the wands of windwalls.

There are a few other quirks that are also a bit irksome.

1) Credits are bound up with the first thing you bid on, so you can't resolve later things without having resolved the ones that have 'stolen' your credits.
2) Any auction item that has eaten enough bound credits is automatically resolved, so it appears in your inventory and leaves you confused as to what is going on when you try to resolve (because it is not very obvious that it, unlike everything else, automatically popped into your hands by Magic).
Kiradawea2011-04-02 07:59:06
Yeah. The windwall wands too. The crit runes may be expensive, but I don't see how anyone could value windwalls that much. I mean, sure they're good, but 3k+ for em? Never would've guessed that.
Unknown2011-04-02 08:02:02
Seeing the windwalls wands' final price makes me wonder if the people who spent so much for them realize that you can't put any other type of wall up in a direction that has a windwall, it's a tiny chance that the wall will even hit, that windwalls only work on enemies, and if it's prime you have to declare someone for it to even have a chance. suspicious.gif Those last two I'm not 100% sure on, but I'm fairly certain that's the case. Unless these windwalls work differently than Aeromancer windwalls.
Esano2011-04-02 08:02:52
It's because they are currently unremovable, and block other walls from being raised.

Still overpriced.
Aerotan2011-04-02 08:08:55
Losing an auction to a snipe? Fine, I'll deal.

Losing one to a snipe by a fellow citizen. A little more irksome, but I'll still deal.

Losing one to a snipe by a fellow citizen who explicitly knew not only that I was bidding on a given artifact, but the exact amount I'd built up for it, which auction I was bidding in, how much I had available and which auction I was intending to move to but couldn't afford anymore? censor.gif

At least I get to keep the ones I have, but still, that was just low.

EDIT: So that this doesn't just sound like a post to bitch, I was honestly surprised the Planar runes got as high as they did. Same with the Flutes, since those are mostly just for utility. I am glad Tully got one of the Planar runes, though. He should go visit Frobollen. tongue.gif

Several of those things you mentioned are positives, not negatives!

Frobollen? And you really didn't expect that?
Unknown2011-04-02 08:19:41
I just know I've been in situations in my demesne where I really need to put up an icewall, but can't because I put squalls up. That one really works both ways!

I've always, always told people never to tell people what they're bidding on, nor what their maximum is - there's simply too many things that can be done with that information!

(I should note I have no idea as to this situation, or even which artifact it was!)

I guess I was just hoping that the people around me would have the tact to not abuse it. And not be cheeky about the fact that they did. Now I know better, and won't repeat the mistake, but I certainly plan to take a few days to myself to let my emotional state discharge a bit.

Kira: Frobollen or Forbollen, or wossname, the Celestial Groom. I assume that with Nexus and the Planar Rune Tully could theoretically hop straight up to Celestia from the Pool on Prime.
