Also, who makes good reliable RAM these days? I'm browsing around on Newegg(i should still have an account there from years back...).
What makers of RAM should I stay away from?

I've never been wrong for buying Crucial for RAM.

Well, i travelled 80 miles into the city yesterday. The laptop i wanted at Best Buy(Toshiba L655-S5150) was not only out of stock in the store, the main warehouse was out of stock. It will be a while before they have it. They didn't have any other viable options for me there. The only other affordable laptops had CELERON processors.
I went on Wal-Mart online today and ordered a nearly identical model. Toshiba L655-S5146. All the same features, but a 500 GB hard drive instead of 320. Also, it includes an HDMI port(now to surf facebook on our 65" HD TV in 1080p)..........................................
I got it for $468 + shipping(97 cents) + tax. Came out to $506. That's an increase of $50 over what i would have gotten at best buy, but i now have a bigger HD, HDMI port, and i won't have to wait a long time.
Can't wait til it gets here.

Okay, so it should arrive tomorrow(according to Fedex). I'm looking into a game or two to keep me busy during my off time(I live in the middle of nowhere). Would Assassins Creed be doable on a 2.13 GHz Pentium dual core? Most games call for 2.4 ghz, or they call for higher Ghz single core processors. I assume a low GHz dual core can do what a high GHz single core can do?

That is really dependent upon the application/game itself. If it's written to take advantage of multiple threads, then yes. Otherwise, not so much. .3ghz isn't really gonna be much of an issue though, I don't think.

IT'S HERE!
It came via FedEx today(30 minutes after I left for work, timing fail).
Had a few hiccups getting it going. When I booted it up it didn't detect the wireless network adapter. I had to reboot it to get it working.
It's a really fast machine though(by my standards).

So where do you go to adjust how much RAM is dedicated to graphics?

Your computer should have an onboard graphics chip that has its own vram and such.

There are two options with videocards
1. They have their own memory and you can't change it. (In windows 7 and vista it is still possible they take some system ram when they run out of dedicated, this is automatic however and you can't change it)
2. They work exclusively on shared memory (mostly graphical cards integrated in the motherboard). In this case it is possible there is a setting in the BIOS (can be called aperature size, video memory etc, should check your manual), a physical jumper on the mobo (which you can't touch in a laptop) or in some rare cases a setting in the graphical/mobo software.

Chances are, the BIOS.
