Just want to know how many languages we represent here. Some of us are probably Bilingual, or multilingual. Let's show what we know.
I speak fluently in both English(first language) and Tagalog(Acquired in the Philippines).

English, French (9 years' education, but unpracticed in fluency), currently learning Irish as well.

I speak fluent English, Danish and Serbo-Croatic (Slavic language, spoken in most of the Balkans with variations).
Then I "speak" a whole lot of other languages (though not really, I just know a little bit, enough to hold a very small conversation at most) including:
German, Spanish, Japanese.

I'm lucky I can form sentences in English.
If you dropped me off in a country that didn't speak English, I would be dead in a month.

Tagalog was my favorite language to work with in linguistics classes, because all the examples were neat and tidy.
Sadly, for all my study (Latin in middle school, Greek, German, and American Sign Language in high school, linguistics in college), I'm only really fluent in English. I could get by in a German-only environment long enough to reacquire it.

Tagalog is freaking awesome. After spending 2 years in the Philippines and now being home, i feel homesick for the Philippines. It feels great to be the one white guy walking around speaking their language. There were quite a few elderly white folks there that retired there from the U.S, the U.K., Australia, and other parts of Europe, but they were all arrogant and didn't care to learn the language.

I have tried my hand at Japanese and Danish but relatively looking at it, have failed at such.
One day...one day I will be able to speak languages that interest me (more or less: Japanese, Russian, Danish, maybe Latin/Greek)

Less than 50% of our players answering this poll speak English?
Stangmar2011-03-31 23:00:39
I hope those who have voted realize this is multiple choice. You pick ALL the languages you speak.

Danish is a way too hard language, indeed.

Some people might just enjoy the pretty colours of MUD text.

You'd probably be speaking the language pretty well in a month actually.

That's about half-true. I just spent 2 years in the Philippines, and while you can get some proficiency within a month, the first few months are very frustrating for both the person learning and the people he interacts with. It took me a good few months to become fluent, and after that I would wince anytime i was assigned with a person who was new to the country, i've heard some really bad Tagalog. I tell you though, it has taken some adjustment gettin back to English again after 2 years outside the States. I find myself going into Tagalog all the time.

I KNOW! When I hear some people are not native speakers of English and I look at the things they design...well, it puts me to shame.
Bulgarian(Slavic language) is my native language, with English being my second and I know a pretty good amount of French.
EDIT: I think I misinterpreted what Estarra said but I will stick with my statement.

Also, you both misinterpret the poll. Thirteen people voted, and thirteen of them speak english. English accounts for less than half of the total votes.
Personally, I speak all of the languages. The trick is talking really loud and slow in english so everyone can understand what you're saying.

I'm surprised we have more French-speakers than Spanish-speakers. A pretty big portion of our playerbase is from the USA, isn't Spanish the big thing there? Then again, I guess there are a few Canadians too.
