Org Government

The organization government stuff has been pretty much untouched, however there are some small changes that could be helpful. This has come up a little in recent threads so feel free to repost your ideas here. Also for the sake of viability, keep it simple, heh.

Ambassador Minister - should get enemy/unenemy power. Because a lot of times ambassador deals with enemies seeking to become unenemied, in fact with the collegium system, that may be even more in their purview than newbie help.

Aides to Trade - do not need the ability to reprice the market. They already have the power to withdraw from the ministry and adjust the goods in stock - they don't really need the power to adjust prices - it's too much power for an aide, and is one of the reasons why people are hesitant to give out aideships to this ministry.

Deeded clans/manses/ships - once deeded to an org, only the Steward/GA/Clan Leader/Order Head should have the power to undeed them - as opposed to current owner.

Can we also have a 'reason' syntax to anyone withdrawing gold with the COMMUNEWITHDRAW TRADE/AMBASSADOR syntax, that would put a note on the revlog?

I'm quite fond of the idea of giving the power to CHELP EDIT scrolls to the Library aides as was discussed over Envoys. It would give more attention to the overall ministry, I feel, than giving the power to say, Culture.

I think there was also talk of enabling Culture aides to reset the arena at the arena rather than having to go all the way back to the council room to do so, but I never followed up to check if this problem still persists.

Believe the arena thing was changed some time back. Not fully sure, but I remember something about it in an announce some time in March.

Yes, that got done.
Daraius2011-04-09 21:57:31
Would be great if all ministries who can have funds allocated could also withdraw those funds.

Please to let Org Security read all guild related logs?

Do you mean for Shadowdancer security members, reading the Night log, and Aquamancer security, the tidelords (water?) log? If so, I would take it a step further and make these associated logs a guild priv gotten by rank. Maybe one of the off-ranks that don't currently get a priv yet!

It would also be nice if Ministers could write in the organization logs.

Yeah, as GA I religiously checked the Tide Lord logs to check for people who had to be enemied, and I'd rather be able to see for myself than constantly telling someone else to check it. I could also use it as a pre-emptive way to know who to target without stepping onto Water and risking a death.

I think the withdrawing should be expanded but not to every ministry, unless they make the treasurer able to allocate automatic use funds and withdraw-able funds separately. For instance, the power ministry is often left with a large amount of gold in the event that many guards need to be summoned, but that ministry also (usually) has the most aides, any of which could make off with all the gold. Thievery isn't common, but it's still a concern, for me at least.
Diamondais2011-04-10 16:33:44
Don't think the priv would go past the actual minister.

Doesn't it already, though, for ministries that can withdraw?

Yes, it does.

Oh hm, I was under the impression differently.

As a comment in regard to CHELP editing powers, I have found this, through some experience.

People who still play reliably and who took the time to write the original chelp files generally feel hurt when ambitious person X goes through in a frenzy and updates them. Now, if it's not getting done, the matter has been brought up, and nothing changes, that might be one thing..but for the most part, I try to grab the original (or most recent) editor to update as necessary. I have no qualms about overwriting pieces composed by now-dormant players (still might be a little insensitive, but things change), but I realize how much time can be spent putting those together, and how easily that work is erased. Personally, I'm not going to go through and 'tag' the bottom with a line to the original writer, for myself or anyone else, because I think it looks silly. By the same token, however, if they're active, they should have the first go at updating.

Maybe I'm just a control freak and prefer things My Way.

It sounds like I should have a whole lot of hurt feelings.

I'm just making an observation, after I was approached by someone whose chelp I had overwritten without thinking. tongue.gif I have tried very hard to not make that same mistake again since then, but perhaps I have? OH GOD FORGIVE ME
Xenthos2011-04-11 01:39:12
Everyone overwrites my chelps. And they never say a thing. I just look and there is a new name attached. sad.gif

Maybe they should have a 'Written by:' and a 'Edited by:' for help scrolls?

I know I used to edit guild scrolls when I repeatedly encounter people who get confused by a particular phrase or sentence, but no one seemed to be bothered by it.
