Internet Diplomacy

I was wondering how many of us had played Diplomacy. For those that haven't and want the cliffnotes version, it's a strategy game of sorts where players have to cooperate(And sometimes not) in order to gain control of the board, based off of Edwardian Era politics, the objective being to gain control of 50% of the game's resources. The reason being, is that I was wondering if there would be any interest into playing a forum version of it. Because of the mechanics of the game (Players get a set period of time to discuss alliances, make deals, threats, trades, etcetera, and then at the end of that period, all actions are performed at once by a mediator), it translates well onto the internet. Any interest in it?

Rulebook here

As a note, whomever mediates Game One will get to participate in Game Two, and visa versa. They'll need to keep a map up to date, and keep track of what goes on in one turn and another(Via PMs). I'll happily mediate one of the games.

Without clicking the link, yes, I have interest.

I love Diplomacy! I wish I had the game--I used to play it in high school. I'd be interested, depending on how it was done.
Diamondais2011-04-16 07:31:16
It certainly sounds familiar.
Rika2011-04-16 08:32:53
Think I already told you in a clan, but this is one of those things that I've had an interest in for a while but never had the chance to try. Seems like a lot of fun.
Ileein2011-04-16 17:10:22
Definitely.
Ayisdra2011-04-16 17:13:37
Never played before, but would be interested in playing.

A word of warning: always understand the difference between, "WILL you support me?" and "CAN you support me."
Casilu2011-04-16 17:54:13
Is that enough people?

Is that enough people?

The maximum number of people per game is seven plus a mediator. Counting myself, we have nine people interested in it, so that means that we will want to have two games running at once.

See the initial post.

In for game 1.

This looks interesting, but I've never played it before.. Might just watch for a game or two!

Neither have I. Just jump in.

Jumping in then, unless someone else really wants the spot!
Ileein2011-04-17 12:54:18
Guess that's you for Game One, then. I'll start off the list for Game Two, if we have a moderator.
Okin2011-04-17 13:43:51
I'm in, whatever game.
