Does the existence of these tattoos change the outlook for tae'dae / tae'dae knights at all? Like if you were to get all damage tattoos, what would that add to a character?
I'm seriously starting to wonder if Estarra hates the tae'dae, after years of being a noob trap race and the last set of nerfs.

There's a maximum amount of weight that tattoos are applicable for.
So you could spend all 759 weight on damage buffs, but only 100 of that would actually count...so you're only looking at a buff of 10, which isn't too crazy.

I see, I found the skillet on Xiel's site. So I guess a tae'dae could forego physical damage resistance in favor of a bit more summoning resistance? Might not be a complete flop, though I wonder exactly how much it helps as I don't know what the base resistance chance is to begin with.
Edit: Never mind, I didn't notice that summoning resistance has a cap too. I guess there's nothing to help out tae'dae in particular here.

No, it's 10dmp per type. So he could get for instance 10 on blunt, 10 cutting, get a damage changing rune and tattoo up that type as well. He could get all 700 weight on all 7 types, or even use the 59 weight on a type, because it does give partial dmp.

Oh, ok, I was just reading the description on Xiel's site, which I interpreted to be a max 100 weight overall. The language is fairly ambiguous.

That would not increase total damage from tattoos because when you gain one damage type, you lose damage in another area. A knight would have needed some kind of wounding or speed tattoos too.

It doesn't actually decrease total tattoo damage boosting to get more then one type at all, if you get 100 blunt and 100 cutting tattoos, you get 20 total dmp, whereas each one individually gives 10 dmp. It does take away from other weight, but there isn't any reason to get more then 2-3 damage boost tattoos for most people, you only have so many damage types you can deal out. Adding any more speed boosts or wounding would buff everyone, and many classes/guilds really don't need it.

But look at it this way. Your weapon, for example, does 100% cutting damage. Let's call this 100 damage. You get a rune so now your weapon deals 77 cutting 33 fire damage.
You spend twice as much tattoo weight for a 10% bonus to both cutting and fire. But the damage value of each damage type that you're buffing is less, since you opted to get the fire in the first place. Instead of buffing 100 by 10 dmp, you're buffing 77 by 10 dmp and 33 by 10 dmp.
The result is going to be fairly close to the original value, had you stuck with one damage type.
I just mention wounding and weapon speed because knights don't use damage to begin with.

That isn't an issue with tattoos, but the elemental runes themselves. The whole point is to bypass the availability of cutting and blunt resistance.

I guess I'm just belly aching over something not really related (tae'dae) out of the faint hope that the problem gets acknowledged and fixed in some way. I was actually hoping that tattoos would somehow do this. I put a lot of time and money in last year to get my bad character nerfed.

I don't understand why you don't just reincarnate if it bothers you that much? Tae'dae are obviously not viable, and if you care about combat it's stupid to pick them and then whine on the forums. It's not like you didn't know what you were getting yourself into when you picked tae'dae.
Unknown2011-04-29 22:50:55
I was getting by before they got nerfed. When you base an entire character off of being a certain race all the way down to their name, changing race shouldn't have to be the only option.
So clearly, I didn't know what I was getting into, unless you think I should have been able to predict that they would nerf a bad race.

In my opinion, you shouldn't have to switch races because a problem isn't being recognised. You can be the hero of the tae'dae and try to get them fixed. Just switching races won't solve the problem, and won't do Lusternia isn't any good. If you have a legitimate complaint, keep complaining I say.

Since I am under the impression that tattooists do not exist, can someone either provide or point me in the direction of the tattoo design format?

Hmm, I think it's the same as all other designs, you just need to specify location and weight.

And no dropped.

That would be very useful, except for the fact that I never design things, so I'm still unfamiliar with the template.
