I imagine he got a few free beers.

Um, i hope you know that those pictures are fake. The Pentagon hasn't released any pictures of his body yet.....

Yeah.. they're fake. A lot of peeps from my class been showin' it, but everybody agrees that it's a photoshop. If there were real photos, and from the rumors I've heard of how everybody in that strike team went crazy shooting up Osama's corpse. It'd be way worse than that fake photo, and I wouldn't blame them for giving him a proper burial at sea from where nobody can find the body. Obviously if someone from al-Qaeda saw what they've done to the body, it'd add even more fire to the on-going fighting. Highly doubt Pentagon would ever release any photos at all.

The reports from them are that they are planning to release photographic evidence so that they can quash any idea that it's not the truth. We'll see if it happens.

They're probably trying to come up with a tasteful way to release an ID-able facial photo of a guy who got shot in the face or head. I wouldn't be too surpised if it takes them a day or two, but the sooner the better.

EDIT: Ignore the date, I didn't make this. minor FAIL.

Wait Stangmar is still alive?

I've heard several news casters and friends make this slip of the tongue, I really doubt politics has anything to do with it. If you have a sentence with Obama and Osama in it, it's likely to get confused now or then.
Daraius2011-05-05 12:53:46
Yeahbut. Why refer to one guy by his first name and one guy by his last? Especially when you know they sound similar and could easily be confused by your listening audience even if you didn't mix them up? Discourteous broadcasting at best.

The newscasters saying it wasn't really the issue. It was the fact that several Fox News affiliates had Obama and Osama mixed up in the headlines that scoll across the screen.

Also, I'm not really concerned about the death being fake. Bin Laden has proven that he likes the spotlight; if he is still alive, he will be sure to let us know.

I really just can't understand how anybody could seriously think the government was making this all up, for what, a publicity stunt? Successfully tricking the entire world and getting everybody involved to never leak evidence of it would probably be a far more difficult task that actually killing him.
Kiradawea2011-05-05 21:16:18
They could have made a mistake though and killed a body double. *shrug*
Lehki2011-05-05 21:25:51
Seen too many damn conspiracy movies.

Body double with a DNA match and Osama's daughter mistaking him for her father. That's a pretty darned good double!
Kiradawea2011-05-05 22:18:28
It was a response suggesting that in their eagerness to show the world that Osama is dead, they might have fallen to a trap, rather than making a fake claim for a publicity stunt, should such a situation arise. The government isn't always acting like a headless cow.

And how would they have Osama's DNA in the first place? That's something I'm actually curious about.

Why are you digging for reasons they could be wrong/lieing/tricked? D:

Probably from medical records from before he went into hiding as a wanted terrorist.

EDIT: And google has failed me, wtf is acting like a headless cow?

A known sister.
Kiradawea2011-05-05 22:49:27
I'm not. I'm providing a reason for why the government may not neccessarily have lied if at a later date it turns out they didn't got Osama after all.

Conversation at work:

Me: "So, I'm told Limbaugh kept mixing up Obama with Osama, and not really on purpose."

Co-worker: "Ha ha, well you take that much oxycotton and it will mess you up."

Me: "Hah, well, Beck was saying something to the effect of wrapping him in bacon and burying him in New Jersey."

Co-worker: "To be honest I just couldn't even tell that he was alive anyway."

Me: "Who, Beck?"

Co-worker: "No, Obama."

Me: "Ha!" *points*

Its just easy to do. The smart money is on just calling him Bin Laden.
Sylphas2011-05-06 01:19:23
Someone made a good point about this, really: Why are we referring to Barack Obama by his surname and Osama bin Laden by his given name? The issue does not arise if you pick one type of name and stick with it.
