Cultured families are supposed to be political families? I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be, you know, cultured families.

"Often popular amongst those of less noble blood due to their often friendly disposition and kindly nature, such houses commonly held the greatest support in terms of Bannerhouses, even if their own house was fairly small in number. Still, such houses should never be underestimated - for often while others argued and politicked for every last scrap of power they could, the most renowned Houses of Culture rose to power gracefully with strong support from the masses"

culture = political houses

Cultured Houses can take varying forms, but they certainly are the province of socialites - who often use those social connections as political clout.

Though, I note, the very nature of a House demands it to be political, whether or not they want to be!

Game of Thrones has been a wonderfully illustrated example of such.

I don't think we'll see any exclusive gains except in rare instances - more likely we'd see, for example, honour for winning an election, loss of honour for losing an election, and more honour gained for cultural families.

Game of Thrones is slowly reinvigorating the way I portray Nightshade. I love it, and it makes me love Nightshade more, small though it is!

We'll get to Great House sooner or later.

Actually, I've read Song of Ice and Fire since I was a boy (my uncle gave me Game of Thrones during a family reunion in Breckenridge, so I was probably... 14? 15?). I'm even anxiously awaiting my copy of DoD to arrive today!

While the House system was mostly inspired by the Imperial Families of Old Celest, a lot of that formation and identity came from my familiarity with aSoIaF.

(And the HBO redux has been excellent!)

YES!

Also:

familyaccounts
You have these accounts at the following banks:
Bank of New Celest : 5000 sovereigns

I can't find any reference of us even having a bank account, or being able to withdraw gold from it. Is it possible to withdraw gold? If not then why do we even have the ability to have a bank account??

- I have only just discovered this thread, forgive me if any points like this have already been raised and discussed.

Is the system set up so that only one Great House in a city/commune can have a member on the ruling council? I was under the impression that any family that had reached 150k honour could choose someone.
Eventru2011-07-20 17:36:51
Only one.

Otherwise we'd have 10, 15 member councils and that'd get crowded. smile.gif
Jack2011-07-20 17:43:45
Yeah, that'd be a nice way of circumventing the "must be kicked by two/three council members" rule.
Diamondais2011-07-20 17:46:52
Is there any other way to change it other than someone some how randomly losing 50k honour or willingly stepping down? blink.gif
Eventru2011-07-20 18:00:05
A duel would resolve it, if I do recall.
