The crux of the issue isn't how "cool" it would be to finish off the cities, but rather the current lack of org-level balance, in e.g. guard, archetype and tradeskill availability. Rather than opening another two orgs and leaving them in a state of half-completion, leaving us with that many more guild slots to fill over time (and thus even stronger hardcoded imbalance between old and new orgs), it makes far more sense of get bards and monks added to Hallifax and Gaudiguch first.
You have misread.
That being said, this game is going to be incomplete for quite a few years now. We still have twenty-two guilds waiting to be released tmk and even though yes, finishing off the cities is probably going to be given priority, this does not change that I would like to see the forests and that release seems likely to prove more interesting than the addition of monks and bards.

I'm sure once we have enough players to consider releasing them, there shall be plenty of things interesting.
(Hint, hint. More players. Hint. Go recruit. Gogo.)

No offense, but that line gets annoying in these discussions when you glance at the other games. Especially Achaea, considering how long that has been out.

Howso? I don't really see the argument - last I remember, Achaea has 6 cities, with maybe four guilds in each city? At most? Eleusis had 2, as I recall, druids and jesters being fairly org-neutral/rogue. I know that's changed a bit, but Achaea has a pretty big population.
"Annoying" or not, it's the truth!
cyro2011-05-17 00:53:46
Well, I think that Ackleberry will probably be a commune, with at least a population of Furrikin and Tae'dae (With chainsaws?) and will probably be against all orgs for the release of the Taint. But, I think Jojobo will probably be like Hashan in Achaea, probably a neutral commune.
(I keep hearing about some disease when I look at the articles on the realms website. What's that all about? I've been inactive for about 20 in-game years.)

Achaea is 25
Imperian is 26
Aetolia is 16 plus houses so 24
(ignoring MKO and ToP)
Imperian could be lower it is just that some guilds are duplicated for varying reasons, but are we going to need to see Achaeas numbers here to support the 48 guilds that we will have (8 orgs * 6 archetypes (including the unnamed one from ask estarra)) only to have low activity rampant.

More for the comparison of number of houses to player-base.

Sometimes, I feel we already are.

I feel like Ackleberry should be the only thing that comes back as a potential playable commune. Sure, in terms of badassery, Jojobo is far more cool, possibly because it remains largely undefined. That being said, as awesome as it would be to have Jojobo as an actual place, it would be such a big mess. Jojobo would come out automatically against Ackleberry and Glomdoring both, based largely off Sun's hatred of Lake and desire for Night. Not to mention, Ackleberry would seem against Glomdoring and Serenwilde, from the whole thanks-for-the-GH from Glom, and the setup for Lake being anti-Moon. Yeah, are the possibilities exciting, but it's like, we so don't have that number of people, in my opinion, we don't even have the number of people to have as much out as we already do. Is it sad? Totally, but if anything is going to be released, it should be something with the most satisfaction guaranteed, and least complication. And Jojobo, the jungle outside the Basin with one corrupted Spirit and one normal spirit (And also Druids belonging to one of the awakened spirits?) just seems like too much complication.

Won't argue with that.
I'm all for Jojobo/Ackleberry coming back as bashing grounds/sites of new major quests, though.

No, that was the Sakaritch, or something like that. Jojobo is outside the Basin, to the north.
Really?
I've been away far too long. *goes to read Elder Wars again*

Achaea is fairly stagnant, they haven't released a new guild/equivalent for maybe 5 years. Lusternia's rate of new development has been relatively constant, when you plot out release, Glom, bards, monks, Halli/Gaudi. You also need to consider that releasing orgs without the playerbase to fill them would be a catastrophic idea. Imagine being the only person on GWHO in all but peak hours.

They don't need to with their system, they've released Blademasters relatively recently. You may not notice it as much because houses there can be focused around a concept rather than a class, so you just release a class and they are absorbed into the existing guilds.
And right now I tend to see at best three people more often one, some guilds are nicely active others simply aren't and with the lusternian set up if it's the skills your guild has, you are screwed.
Arath2011-05-17 09:39:08
I'd love for Ackleberry to return, even just as an NPC area. I'd probably quest there non-stop.

The whole Ackleberry-Jojobo conflict is based on this passage from the Elder Wars:
So, yeah. My guess here is that Sun will partially awaken, allowing his avatars to do things on Ethereal, including binding fae and accepting the corpses of the Lake Avatars to attack Ackleberry with. And Lake's avatars will be willing to accept the corpses of the Sun Avatars to try to put Sun back to sleep.

"You shall not have her, Sun!" Lake said coldly. "You shall not pass me!"
"I will destroy you, Lake!" Sun roared. "I shall burn you to nothing! You are naught and nothing! If it takes me until the ends of time, I shall destroy you, Lake! Come to me, Night! We were always meant to be!"

Gleip2011-05-17 12:05:23
Right. But they'd still need the Jojobo-folks to actually desire to help Sun attack Lake.
Lendren2011-05-17 12:10:29
What I always found odd about that is that there's a lake on the west side of Faethorn, which seems like it will logically be what grows into the ethereal version of Ackleberry. Opposite it is where Butter lives, which doesn't seem particularly Jojobo-ish (though it would be cute if Butter gets to make the first ever fae-snickerdoodles). I always assumed there was a rough correspondence between the prime and ethereal incarnations of the Great Trees, but Ackleberry is pretty far east. Do we have anything at all to suggest which general direction Jojobo might be? Or maybe the lake won't correspond to Sister Lake's domain, but... how can it not?
Gleip2011-05-17 12:14:24
Perhaps there will be a new area in faethorn too for Jojobo and Ackleberry? Or Faethorn is a mirror version of prime?
