Griefing in Lusternia

Raid Prime Hallifax? Are you insane? They'd get hopelessly lost there. And probably be put into spheres as experiments.
Nienla2011-07-15 00:36:30
Three days back and I'm already getting a post about me. sad.gif

Anyway, I'll just state that I've always been of the opinion that I'd be happy to get rid of the minor power gain from totems in exchange for them being able to be runed and active at all times and having the same difficulty in their removal as statues.
Ileein2011-07-15 00:40:12
Man, forget that totem crap, you know what's griefy? Afflictions
Talan2011-07-15 00:43:43
Remember kiddies, when the forests grief each other on prime, only Magnagora wins.

Oh dear.

Here, I'll sum up the next few posts for you:

"Argh nerf totems power"

"Whoa whoa, it's fine, they take time to rebuild, if anything, make statues easier to take down"

"Stfu, statues don't generate any power AT ALL"

"Yeah well that's because your cosmic/elemental planes are easier to lock down!111"

"No way, ethereal is still an IMPREGNABLE FORTRESS (of doom)"

"Whatever, nerf choke"

It all comes down to this. The solution: delete choke.

If someone wanted to, they could raid Prime Hallifax.

Winnae come back to ussss.

Okay, let me go through why this is somewhat different:

Here, I'll sum up the next few posts for you:

"Argh nerf totems power" I'm cool with that.

"Whoa whoa, it's fine, they take time to rebuild, if anything, make statues easier to take down" No need, though I somewhat agree.

"Stfu, statues don't generate any power AT ALL" All we have besides totems is a conflict quest, but nerfing totem power is fine, we don't need the power.

"Yeah well that's because your cosmic/elemental planes are easier to lock down!111"

"No way, ethereal is still an IMPREGNABLE FORTRESS (of doom)" that's not necessarily true, though against large raids, like those against Avatars, we are better set up, afaik. Doesn't enter into this.

"Whatever, nerf choke"Nah, just remove brumetower, not going to start that today.

And though cities are raidable by multiple people, one person running around wrecking havoc is nearly impossible (and what could they possibly do?). If someone wants to organize a legitimate raid, more totems bonded won't stop that, and I'm OKAY with that. Hit and run greifing that isn't stoppable because we don't have anywhere near as easy a fix. I would be okay with lowering the power gain from totems if we had the ability to rune more totems (but not make them not decay. That would get costly on runes, but meh). It would still end up being way more trouble then statues,we'd have to both recarve them and renew runes faster then statues decay, and you can't upkeep on totems to increase that time. That's okay. I'd like some way to curb one man hit and runs on prime, however. If totems aren't the way, can you think of any others (and not discretionary, that's a tired debate, and cities don't have to spend to have a fairly good amount of defense against single people)
Unknown2011-07-15 02:07:03
With the hilarious amounts of power we all have, throwing up gravity and distort is more than enough to catch hit and runners (who don't raid at 2 AM PST). It's already done on non-prime, shouldn't be an issue on prime.

I thought we were deleting monks this week. Why do you people have so many hobby horses?

Monks, then choke. My bad.
Sylphas2011-07-15 02:27:09
Wait, seriously, this is a Nienla thing again? Gravity makes her go away, easy as that.
Everiine2011-07-15 02:39:20
Good Lord, the first time Nienla comes back and raids we have to start a nerf totems/statues/bards/monks/trueheal/lich/choke thread? She's not that important!

(No offense to Nienla sad.gif )
Enyalida2011-07-15 02:45:04
No, this is something that has bothered me at a long time, just the idea that those who have the most reason to get raided on prime are more vulnerable to it.

Didn't yesterday, but that might be because no one came but me after it was up, and my reflexes were broken (not that I could do much even if they weren't, but it'd be nice to at least go through the motions).

Man, when I heard the trees falling and walked through your room I about freaked. Then no one even responded to the raid but Lendren, so after it was clear no one was going to help I tried to find you again with my Adept Kata and systemless level 30 powers, but you had already left sad.gif

You totally would've died though, monks are that good.

The only problem with Nienla raiding prime is that 5/7 (on-plane) Serenwilders pointedly ignored the attack.

I didn't ignore her. I actually ran into her too, but no one else was there, and I'm terrible at fighting, so I ran away again, and then started double-checking all our totems were carved.

Until distort works on Ethereal archways, we have no fortress. The gate is pretty wide open.

Conversely, discretionary distort should not stop transversing.

Still, the griefing is more about the attitudes of the players, just a good ol' fashion bully/gang mindset.

I agree with the first two points, disagree with the third

I agree with the third. There is a significant portion of the combatant base that is pretty docile when they are losing, but are all about strutting about like idiots when their org is on top.
