Subj: Important Updates!

We've re-tweaked the influence formulas, so influencing of smaller level
mobs is a little harder and not so much of a slam-dunk. Also, we've
readjusted gold drops, esteem and xp from influencing as it slightly
skewed too high.

There will now only be a steep essence penalty for demigods+ when dying
in enemy territories controlled by a commune or city, or those areas
controlled by a guild (i.e., earth plane, water plane, Nil, Celestia,
ethereal Serenwilde, ethereal Glomdoring). In other words, dying in
enemy territories controlled by denizens will not result in the essence
penalty. Nothing else is changed with how enemy territories work.

For those territories controlled by denizens, you may also start to see
guards appear to help protect those denizens in the next coming weeks.

Finally, we are aware that the weather seems to be a little out of whack
in some areas. This is something that we are working on, and we may need
to bite the bullet and completely recode the weather system. Please bear
with us.

So. Yay, changes, particularly with enemy territory.

However, is anyone else just not feeling the influence changes for difficulty? I feel like -everything- has gotten easier for me. Even Bob or Maeve wouldn't do more than 500 ego damage before I could finish them. And guards just barely break 100 ego damage by the end.

I recently got amnesty from Ethildora. Previously I used upwards of 3k per influence at the end, this time I used about 300 or so (hard to tell with regen messing it up), not having to sip once. Sorry, Estarra, but it dun got borked sad.gif

Wait, so demigods don't suffer the increased experience loss from NPC enemy territory anymore, but everyone else still has the same loss? WTF?

Pretty sure only demigods/ascendants has the increased loss to start.

Demigods had an extra cost attached - that's now gone.

(The solution is obvious: Scale everyone's ego down by 90%! Muaha.)

Back off my ego! It's my highest stat, which reassures me at times. sad.gif

Only change I care about from this is the possible weather code redone. The weather could really be something more useful and fun imo.
I don't really influence many things, and can easily handle most things I influence on a regular basis, and I rarely hunt in enemy territory.
Daraius2011-06-07 01:24:54
Thanks for the enemy territory change!

And I agree that the weather system has tremendous potential!
Ssaliss2011-06-07 01:28:18
As a temporary weather fix, perhaps you could disable the wind stealing your voice altogether, everywhere? It wouldn't fix it entirely, but would remove a major annoyance.

The person I sent to the test server said the same things, and I mentioned it a few times on envoys confused.gif .

EDIT: I/we suggest changing it back to the previous level of difficulty (which still felt absurdly easy), and keep the lower gold/esteem/xp.

EDIT EDIT: And, hunting things got on average harder with this guard summoning (haven't see that in action yet, though) and influencing got easier again? Sad day!

I'm influencing guards now, and the ego hits are all over the place, but very, very low. Between 14 and 151. They don't start low and get progressively higher, it just jumps around.

I noticed that too, but I just chalked it up to regen ticks and passive healing confused.gif

Nope, I turned off westwind and performance, and am entering newlines constantly to catch the regen from being on Continuum.

Edit: Now, I'm on Prime, only beauty to regen ego. 15 Commissars, and I only had to sip five times.
Arel2011-06-07 03:20:58
Yeah, before this announce I would have to sip occasionally when influencing godrealm mobs. After the change, I regen ego faster than I lose it from influencing godrealm mobs for the most part.

I'm a bit more concerned with them getting rid of the 20 year blizzard on Earth than making weather more fun.
Diamondais2011-06-07 03:56:18
And Glomdoring's god awful wind storm we must be having to steal all those peoples voices.

I like the blizzard. sad.gif
I rarely have to deal with it, and I have the mudlet mapper if I need to walk through it.

Think every org has wind at the nexus, but windtalk and lipread defeat it.
