Lusternia Danglers: What plot/setting questions haven't been answered

Back to Common Grounds.

There was once a USENET thread that tried to list something called "X-Men Danglers". Back when Chris Claremont wrote the X-Men, he was famed for writing long-term plots--there were plots that happened in the background, plots that left elements open for follow-up, and mysteries that were not resolved until dozens of issues later. These items became known as Danglers, threads of plots that dangled away, waiting to be rewoven into the main plot tapestry.

So, in respect for that, what long-term historical or plot-based elements in Lusternia haven't been answered. I keep seeing the anonymous poster on plots usually ending their item with questions, such as this recent one.

QUOTE
But how long will the Frost Spite stay sealed? What type of creature is the Frost Spite, whose powers are akin to those of the Great Spirits of Nature? What were the ice devils seeking, and what was the pact the ancient spirit spoke of? And what more lies beneath the snowbound wastes of Mount Wend?

I figured this might be a good way to catalog the current "danglers"--and it might be a good way to remind the admin "oh, we really should answer that question someday".

So who wants to go first?

Here's a few (some may never be answered) based on the events posts:

* How did Elostian manage to combine the essences of two deities without going insane?
* How did that Tosha monk who gave Weeky the last translation of the Elder Wars he happen to succumb to bloodlust?
* Will more be learned about the ever-enigmatic Gylleulox Empire?
* Where is Worrel's Fleece's "family homeland?" and furthermore, what exactly is it?

You never spoke with Elostian, did you?
Astraea2011-06-30 23:01:44
Roark and that damned lesser soulless god who I assume is Nemach or whatever.
Unknown2011-06-30 23:11:51
Nemach gets a mention later on in the Elder Wars.

I mean, I remember from when they caught the Traitors, but, I don't think that's a sufficient tie-up.

I disagree with your initial assumption. Sir.

Heh, well, I've experienced Elostian directly, I was just quoting the original post when he appeared... maybe it should be reworded as "why did this occur just with him" or something.

Since we've just been talking about it onboard,

- How did Lolly Pringle manage to escape Kethuru's touch in Operation Cosmic Hope? Or was she really tainted and just wrote her memoirs as a cover-up?

She stayed well back from the node, only the people who touched the node or the emperor got tainted.

The whole plane of Shallamar was tainted though through the Stone. Surely her proximity to the source can't be discounted?

That's like saying if I stand near a waterfall's top, I should get wet since it makes an entire cloud at the bottom.
Ushaara2011-07-01 01:52:30
But we're not discussing waterfalls. I don't think that analogy is comparable in the slightest.
Astraea2011-07-01 02:01:17
Astral was already tainted. It's like visiting Nil now. You don't get tainted when you go to Nil.

His proximity to the source. Several ur'Guard were there too, and they weren't Tainted - it's made abundantly clear that the link to Kethuru was channelled directly through Ladantine, the same way Guardian archetypes can link directly to their nexus via astral nodes. (Though a more salient question is how an Aquamancer was able to do this, to a nexus he was not directly connected to via organizational affiliation. Artistic license, presumably.) Consequently only Ladantine and those who touched him to try and drag him away (which would be everyone else involved in the Project - the morons!) were Tainted.
Eventru2011-07-01 22:48:41
As emperor, who says Ladantine couldn't connect to any nexus?!

And Worrel Fleece found his homeland - it's called Rikenfriez.

That might be why he censor.gif ed up and tainted all over the place.

PLANAR - NEXUS

You can use planar gates at any nexus, even if you are not affiliated
with that nexus.
Jack2011-07-02 15:08:25
Nexus only allows you to use a different nexus to transverse, though. You still can't link power to it. That's irrelevant, though - since, as Eventru pointed out, he was the leader of a unified empire.
