What's that?
Unknown2011-07-18 01:46:21
It's the new butterfly effect referenced in the announce post. It did 4891 damage to a 5407 health demigod.
Lerad2011-07-18 01:51:55
Haha, elasticity only affects body-part specific attacks... which only affects monks and warriors. Alongside the passive dodging that comes from having acrobatics and all the other goodies like somersault, contort, it's no wonder warriors cry foul. Nothing in acrobatics to mitigate caster damage, though, sadly. Doesn't affect damage taken from bashing either, which makes it useless for the newbies. Looks like an ability that's made just to give an additional inch to the middle finger acrobatics is to physical classes, lawl.
Edit: Oh, also, please don't forget about my request to show us the damage type that mobs do!

I don't think we're going to do that at this time.

Report 628 wants to make dodge almost useless, seeing as we have no DMP in acro as people thought, can we go head and get a DMP all now out of dodge and make it have less "true dodge"?

Boy, I'm ashamed to admit I wrote all the attack messages.
I'll re-write lightningbugs. Yuck.

How 'bout doing moonfire while you're at it?
"Lifting your hands and cupping them vertically before you, you open your heart to Mother Moon and ask your Great Spirit to scour the land of those who would poison Nature. In response, gouts of azure moonfire whip about you and leap from between your palms, engulfing Person in a swirling miasma of lunar fires."
is really long and spammy, plus "gout" and "miasma" just seem... off to me while describing moonfire. It's more taint-y than pure and nature-y.
Something like "You cup your hands, invoking the moon, and bright flames spill forth, engulfing Person in swirling ribbons of lunar fire." would work just as well. Short and sweet! As well as making us not having to close our eyes over and over again for bashing (see: 3rd-person message).
Raeri2011-07-18 10:29:56
I like the moonfire one, actually, other than 'gouts'. Think a kill-message would be nice though, instead of getting the moonburst vanilla message.
Aramel2011-07-18 10:32:15
Yeah, I'd be content with a substitution of "gouts" for something else. The 3rd-person isn't actually that bad (aside from the illogic, but logic never had much to do with anything) and I can just gag the first-person.

Aww, please consider it for the future though!
Thanks for the fixes though, I'm really loving the bodyscan stuff. Being able to see DMP somehow really motivates me to hunt and improve upon them.

If anyone wants to see a trans tattooed, deffed Psymet Monk I'll be sure to post mine once I get all my tattoos inked. Should be pretty, even though I did skimp on some damage absorption in favor of buffing my damage.

This sounds really cool and should be selling point you emphasize in marketing. Seriously.

if I could ask, what's your DamageBuff strategy?
I'm personally heading for 50-weight cutting (for nekai), 50-weight blunt (for kicks). I would have gone a full 100-weight if I was a tahtetso (where weapon choice and unarmed would are both blunt), not to mention a single nekai attack is somewhere over 100 damage: 5% of 100 is somewhat unimpressive.
Really putting a full 100-weight behind asphyxiation to boost Oothai because 1) a high damage skill means the damage mod will have greater impact, and 2) people don't stock up on asphyx DMP like they do for the traditional elementals.
With a full 200-weight behind damage buff, I am now trying to figure out how to maximize investment into defensive tats (really trying to stay away from the 4:1 ratio tier), leaving enough for Divine tattoo. Increased essence offers seems like it has the payback of increased karma gain.
Well, now the games begin! I believe the TRUE EFFECT of BodyScan will mean we will finally start to see more "incremental weight" tattoos like 10, 15, 25 weight for arms/legs and 25, 50, 75 weight for back/chest. Now having BodyScan implemented, I don't know how we ever lived without it.
I cannot thank this game's administration ENOUGH for a effective and efficient implementation. I'd like to believe the advent of Tattoos and BodyScan will herald a turning point for Lusternia mechanics, especially with the upcoming change to mob's defenses, seeing the addition of more elemental attacks, etc.
I do have one small request. Can the Furies update their decision on REPORT 585?

You could definitely ask. I'll PM you my tattoo weights in full, just don't want to post them here for various reasons, but I will say that I only have 100 weight in one area, Fire Absorption, due to racial weakness. I've got about 87 weight in cutting and blunt damage buff, and am thinking about moving to 74 cutting, 100 blunt depending on how my fighting style ends up, and the damage of Buck compared to Skive'd shofa attacks. I have 5 weight in DivineTattoo because I had nothing better to spend it on and I liked the symmetry of the numbers I had already
I'll probably be moving stuff around depending on what I end up dying to the most once I start getting involved in actual combat.
Also, I'd really be psyched to work with you on your Psychometabolism reports if you need help!

I think I'm going to nickname Excorable damage "Scourge damage" because I can never remember it's real name.

Can there be a way to check what a staff is currently tuned to? Or maybe have it fail if you try to tune it to it's current tuning?
