I don't think some of them accurately reflect what skills do, but are rather attached to a def-line. For example, I'm pretty sure -Magic, Resilience, etc are outside DMP from previous knowledge, and Acro elasticity only works on wounds or limbs or something of that sort.
Talan2011-07-17 05:43:44
An idea for bards -
Give them song effects which change or augment the damage type of the bard (Possibly allies, unsure.) Unsure if these would be best in low, mid, or high - likely high as they would impact PK in the same way tuning does.
Spiritsingers - Cold, Electric
Harbingers - Poison, Psychic
Cacophony - Excoro, Poison
Cantors - Divinus, Cold
Example - compose mySong stanza 7 imbue ScorpionSting, then when I'm playing, and not deaf, that would turn my minorsecond damage from magical source, to poison.
Possibly consider a third option for all the bard guilds, a new 'sonic' damage type.
If song effects are not welcomed, perhaps augmentation could be done to the instrument. It's the word 'tuning', it's got us bards jealous. (Perhaps it could be a tinkering thing, making it semi-permanent).

+1 to making tinkering worthwhile.

As jealous as I am of the new attacks, you're right, provided that magic resistance isn't scattered liberally across all the decent bashing.
And I'm still wary of taking Elasticity at face value yet; I definitely feel squishy as a bard than as a moony, and the loss of 4 dmp all shouldn't be that noticable.
EDIT: Jarael, how are you getting almost 50 more DMP than me at the same level of intoxication? Is it simply linear even within a category? I didn't realize suicidal was that broad, if so.
Nydekion2011-07-17 06:04:57
At one point, I was sympathetic to bards being stuck to just the magic damage type but I think between elasticity and the crazy dmp numbers that is brewmeister, I'm about to change my opinion. Heh.

I'm sorry, do we not balance at the top? Your nightkiss is 24 DMP and lasts through death. Power at defup is a nothing. We'll consider the balance made up for all the time you scream SCISSOR at 5p a go. Don't make me invoke choke, I swear to god I will. You leave acro alone you big meanie.
Edit - Also, please stop posting/heeding all these 'suicidally intoxicated' brewmeister dmps... no one actually fights at this level of drunkenness.

Hey, it's weird that Crow gets no excoro damage even while they are penalized with divinus. Does Nightkiss now count as marked by dark spirit in the general scheme of penalties for dark spirit? If not, it seems weird that Night gets all the good while Crow gets all the bad.
Malarious2011-07-17 06:29:19
To ask this slightly differently.
1) So everyone but bards, monks, and warriors need two attacks?
2) The ones who pay 500 credits to get a damage change (but are currently forced to keep the rest) are the main ones stuck with their damage types?
3) Uh, Akyaevin and Fillin regularly outbash me, especially anywhere I lose momentum often (groups or small mobs).

Nightkiss also happens to be the trans skill, what's elasticity? Like the 2nd skill learned? You're right though, that power at defup is nothing, but you know what's even less than nothing? No power lost to put up 20 dmp. Night/Moon has had its offensive buffs rejected in the past specifically because of its great defense in the form of DMP, but Acro apparently has just as great defense along with awesome moves like contort, dodging, somersault, hyper, scissor, and so on.
And while I do agree that no one will actually fight while suicidally intoxicated, the fact that it can be done is something to consider. I'd be interested in seeing a fully deffed up bard with devoutshield, origami, attune, splendours, and a light buzz in drunkenness (for the beers) though, which is far more likely to be seen. Since we're balancing for the top.

Elasticity is not currently a bug?
Although to be honest I think that is most all the dmp most monks get (dont say psymet, or they wouldnt have elasticity).

That's more than Crow gets!
I'm looking at some of the 'all' defenses that are in these other guilds and just can't help but shake my head when people are like, 'woe poor us, we just have 20 dmp to all.'

I'm inclined to believe it isn't since it's been so long and the AB does say just 20 DMP.
And really, since we have bodyscan, everyone should put up their bodyscans as best as they can manage and put their proverbial money where their mouth is. I'd love to be proven wrong and see that those poor monks and bards really have almost druid-like DMP.
Edit: Also I want to see what tattoo monks get too, along with regular splendour monks.
