How much dmp are normal greatrobe proofings? Splendors is 10.
Lerad2011-07-17 12:17:37
IIRC the proofing dmps should be the same for splendours and normal greatrobes. Splendours have the advantage of having all the proofings on the robes so you don't have to maintain 3 articles of clothing. I could be wrong, though.
Unknown2011-07-17 12:19:15
That 'empty' line is only there because otherwise there would be no place for your total. Seems pretty obvious that it's necessary to do it that way...
Ilyarin2011-07-17 12:23:01
@Lerad: if you look in the full listing, the value in parenthesis is equivalent to specific damage type DMP + general DMP (all, and elemental for cold/fire/elec). The value in parenthesis is the "Total DMP" on the brief bodyscan.
Lerad2011-07-17 12:36:29
Yeah, I just realised. Thanks.
Also, another thought just came to me, it would be nice to know for sure what kind of damage mobs actually do. I know different attacks do different damage, so it would actually be nice to have a config option for displaying

Also, for the sake of discussion:
I don't know if Lerad has any tattoos, as that could greatly swing DMP weight (especially if he is trans). Here is my issue, Psionic/Psymet DMP skills are skill variable and require transcending TWO skillsets to max. YES, two: both the base/spec psionics/psymet AND discernment. See my previous post in the page prior. That's an approximate 3,400 lesson investment. ON THE OTHER HAND, acro's need something short of 16 lessons to learn elasticity. Just saying...

And oh, for the sake of comparison (also note that I currently have a Divine Highfavour):
Yeah, I have no DefensiveBuff tats, nor am I trans'ed in tattoos yet. So this entirely explains that discrepancy. Outside of my commentary on Elasticity, this side-by-side demonstrates the strength of trans tats (especially when Def tats are loaded).
In the end, I think Psymet will be able to get away with 50-weight trans tats for the 10 DMP whereas acro's will need the full 100-weight trans tats for the same defensive coverage. This more or less means Psymet's will also be able to pickup DamageBuffs (and some other tat types) along the way.

My, you all went on a posting spree whilst I slept.
I will say I'm kind of amused at how some things have turned out, once you've gotten DMP list. Particularly, I remember certain monks claiming tattoo +DMP wasn't nearly as useful for Psymet monks as it was for Acrobatic monks, because Psymet had so much DMP already...
And how many people always said alcohol tolerance was useless? Heh.
To damage types, I've said it before, Est has said it before - we've options on the table, and we're considering them. We may or may not add more attacks, means of damage change for monks/knights/bards, we'll see how things play out.
Regarding mob bashing - I think Astral may or may not have gotten away with us when putting the resistances together, we'll see. Certainly, one doesn't expect all mobs to be so filled in, but they are end-game denizens so there's that as well.
I said this over envoys, and I'll say it again - we're going to do everything we can to make sure people aren't left out in the cold, and that there will be viable bashing for everyone, no matter their class. Kephera may no longer be terribly appealing, but you'll find something on Astral, or Muud, or the Catacombs of the Dead. I do note that generally resistances will be appropriate thematically - all of Astral looks like a thing out of Kethuru's dreams, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was. Appropriately, you'll find most soulless-originating mobs (Muud, Astral) will have a resistance to excorpus energies, and a weakness to divinus energies. You'll find similar setups in anything tainted or undead. It's just the way of it, I fear. We'll also probably see mobs that are of a more divine or holy nature that are weak to to excorpus energies (angels, maybe fae), while resistant to divinus energy.
We'll see how things go.
While some have remarked that this shall be some great undertaking, I'm not too concerned - I think, generally speaking, the resistances/bonuses are small enough that it won't stop bashing altogether, but will enable you to bash a fair bit faster, if you find the right thing(s) with weaknesses to whatever it is you're dealing. Speaking of dealing, make mine a scotch and water, I've got work here in a bit.
And while I appreciate the concerns regarding balance, particularly between classes, I advise taking them up via envoy reports, versus this thread. I don't think we'll be making any changes to defenses right off of a forum thread, in an attempt to balance it on a mob-mentality approach.

Aramel lifts her hands and cups them vertically over her heart whilst closing her eyes. Suddenly, great gouts of azure moonfire leap out from her hands towards a fat green weevil, the lunar fires swirling about her in a momentary blaze.
It seems odd to go closing your eyes for an attack that is used over and over, and getting surrounded by moonfire quickly loses its dramatic flair. I like the Nightgaze more in comparison.

Ooh, I still feel that "+DMP wasn't nearly as useful for Psymet monks as it was for Acrobatic monks, because Psymet had so much DMP already." Defensively speaking, a trans tat acro monk > psymet monk (without tats). I'm still uncertain that DamageAbsorbtion tats (which doesn't get the 2x trans bonus) = DamageBuff when all things are considered. Still have some questions out on DamageBuff, especially where monks are concerned.
For example, is unarmed considered blunt? If so, then a tahtetso could get away with one, 100-weight Blunt DamageBuff to cover tahto attacks AND unarmed such as kicking. Comparatively, wouldn't a Nekotai monk need 100-weight Cutting (for nekai-based attacks) AND 100-weight Blunt to get the same benefit? The Nekotai Oothai choke seems broken at the moment, and DamageBuff asphyxiation doesn't add benefit. These questions weight on my mind, and will require additional testing.
Not sure the possibility of a psymet now being able to pick up a Power, Divine, or Interference tattoo will make up for what acros gained from trans tattoo (especially considering what we've now learned about the nature of Acro Elasticity). I still think an Elasticity nerf or DamageAbsorbtion DMP cap for trans tattoos is an envoy-possible option down the road.
I really love BodyScan and cannot thank the admin enough. Will wait to see what future dialogue BodyScan Buff brings to the table.
