Short Questions: Three

Entirely different set of questions, this time for a pet project of mine:

-Is crafting an Ecology charm on the fly viable? If an Ecologist was dumped into a duel with a competent opponent who was forced to rely on Blast (100% Heat), would the Ecologist be able to craft a new charm out of the 40 gold he happens to have with him? Basically, how practical is crafting a charm while someone is attacking you?

-What sort of DMP does Nightkiss grant?

-How long does GuardianAngel last? Would it be fair to consider it reliable DMP? If so, what sorts of DMP does it grant?

Does putting your feather into a nexus and picking another feather up a short while later actually work, or will you just waste your feather and be unable to do the quest at all the day you put a feather in the nexus?

(Market): Person says, "Selling all six props for Dukker at the faire for 5000 gold, keep in mind there's only one of each around at a time."

Is that against any rules, or is it just reprehensible but legal profiteering?

Not sure, but I've been told that some players were so disgusted that they threw a monkey wrench in the scam.
Kiradawea2011-10-07 18:43:11
Wouldn't someone trying that get groupkilled pretty quickly? Quest items shouldn't stay in your inventory when you die after all.
Unknown2011-10-07 18:46:26
I suggested that myself. But the Wayfaire seems to kick you out or something if you attack people in it, I think.
Lendren2011-10-07 18:47:07
There was some retroactive, clumsy "no, that's not what I was doing" backpedaling (now he's only "helping people" by getting stuff for them but claims not to be preventing people from getting them by getting them first), so there'll probably be no repurcussions. Still, it would be distressing to see how eager people were to defend preventing others from doing a for-everyone quest, if there was room to be distressed by anything anymore.

Terentia seems to have suggested that speaking to Wayfaire NPCs could get something done if needed. At least that's the sense I got. More reasons to love her. Like I needed them!

People defended him? That is distressing. Both city and guild should've told him to stop as soon as he began.

1) Yes, provided you have to commodities to keep switching (which isn't that bad).

2) 24 DMP to all damage types, just like Drawdown.

So in short, one skill gives you more DMP than all the class defenses of a researcher. (Twice as much for everything but magic, divinus and excorable if you count nimbus which everyone gets, and those who get enough Phys-DMP out of Cloak.)

And in turn, researchers get foresight, switchfate, and a mountain more offensive capabilities than those with Drawdown...

It seems like a fair trade to me.

You make it sound as if Researchers, if anything, are short on defense. How odd of you.
Kiradawea2011-10-07 21:07:58
They're short on bashing defenses. Switchfate, Foresight and so on are poor in bashing.

Diamond, turquoise, mendingstone, amethyst, (emerald). Hardly lacking for bashing buffs.

Diamond is pretty great, and emerald is nice if you're bashing afflicters. Mendingstone is not particularly useful, since running is almost always a better idea. Turquoise and amethyst are laughable, even with appropriate crystalweapon.

Astrology can be nice if you get it on the right day, and non-guild buffs can make Researcher bashing pretty viable at high levels, but no way I'd want to get stuck bashing anything non-trivial without devoutshield/attune/kirigami.
Casilu2011-10-07 22:47:47
When compared to my previous two archtypes, I think Researcher has the worst bashing.

Let us not mention that my previous two archtypes are supposed to be the best bashers in the game.
Unknown2011-10-07 23:03:39
Seriously. I don't think I could go back to mage bashing (or guardian, since I'd been considering going Celestine before I took my last long break) after having been a monk. I thought Lobo regen, sweetfount/healspring, and +20% max hp/mana/ego from twirl staff was tanky before, but sheesh. Harmony psymet monk is godly (EDIT: And I don't have to waste power to use pre-buff Sweetfount and to set up a meld). tongue.gif

Of course, I needed a karmic knowledge blessing to not do crap damage as a Lobo mage, and even then 12 Int isn't anything special. Dunno how Daraius did it.

I'm going to have to disagree in regard to amethyst. It's appears to be a nice chunk of max health, which is what tends to make/break most regeny type things.
