Did you get different feathers at any point? A new feather has a new node (you would have to revisit areas).

Same feather for the whole epic. Is it possible that the node changes on "reset"? i.e. When the feather would otherwise reset, it stays in your inventory but the node moves?

Don't see why not, it's prime and not org territory.
Kiradawea2011-10-05 02:17:45
Would be worse to have it show up in the Meliashmora, Rock cavern or Igasho caves, as you need scaling to reach those areas.
Vadi2011-10-05 02:24:53
I'm sure every org has at least one person with that skill. I think encouraging interation in a multiplayer game is a good thing.

That, or flying. I think can you still LAND IN MOUNTAINS or whatever the syntax is.
Kiradawea2011-10-05 02:38:00
Nope. You can fly to get into the Igasho caverns (though you should bring a levitate enchantment), but it's impossible to fly in the mountain circle surrounding the basin.

You can fly in the mountains, except the parts of it that are considered indoors.
Kiradawea2011-10-05 02:57:41
No you can't. If you try to fly, you get a message "the winds are too strong" or something like that.

survey
You discern:
You are standing in the Southern Mountains.
Your environment conforms to that of mountains.
You are within the continent of the Basin of Life.
You are in the Prime Material Plane.
bfl
spur 63646 skyward
A pure black nightmare flaps its wings a few times and lifts you into the skies.
Flying above slate and shingle.
You see exits leading east and west.
Kiradawea2011-10-05 03:21:13
Odd. Is that something new after the wounded sky came about?
Enyalida2011-10-05 05:37:34
The effect that was stopping flying was a result of weather in the mountain areas turned up to high wind, which stops flying. With weather off, the flying block is off.
Rika2011-10-05 06:57:10
I hope no one ever gets tasked to visit the Spire in Mount Dio or one of the vaults in the Meliashmora
Xiel2011-10-05 07:13:09
If that happens, just shove the feather in a nexus and wait an hour to get a new one. Usually, as Xenthos said, a new diamond can be picked by the feather that could be in a more easily accessible area. I doubt the quest was made to thoroughly discourage people, so just try a new feather for a new location.

Also I'm pretty sure you could always just fly up somewhere else and then move to the mountains.

Can the quest be changed so the feather doesn't drop out of your inventory when you die? I've died twice doing this quest and in places where i'll never be able to get my feather back unless I go back there only to die again.

No, that bug got fixed a while back, you'd be forced back down once you came back to a high-wind area.

How close am I now? A glittering snow feather floats into the air and twirls about madly, casting a dizzying array of colour over the surroundings.

Super close. That's the closest message.
