12.1 PLANAR TRAVEL
Syntax: TRANSVERSE PRIME TRANSVERSE ETHEREAL TRANSVERSE ELEMENTAL TRANSVERSE COSMIC TRANSVERSE ASTRAL Like an onion, the planes of existence are layered and wrap around each other. In the center is the Prime Material Plane, or the world of Lusternia itself. Surrounding the prime is the ethereal plane, which reflects all the known forests of the prime and is home of the realm of the fae. Surrounding the realm of the fae are the elemental planes and surrounding those are the cosmic planes. Beyond even that is only the mysterious astral plane. There are a variety of methods of planar travel, among them: PLANAR COMMON: The most widely accessible is learned through the common skill called Planar, which will allow general access through planar gates and eventually allow even the creation of new planar gates. MAGES: Upon mastery of elementalism, mages are able to travel to and survive on the elemental planes. They can open any gates that lead out of the elemental planes. GUARDIANS: Upon mastery of cosmic magic, guardians are able to travel to and survive on the cosmic planes. They can open any gates that lead out of the cosmic planes. DRUIDS AND WICCANS: Upon mastery of nature magic, wiccans and druids are able to travel to and survive on the ethereal plane. They can open any gates that lead out of the ethereal planes. For the planewalker, it is important to note that gates only open from adjacent plane to adjacent plane. The planes are ordered as follows: PRIME ETHEREAL ELEMENTAL COSMIC ASTRAL In other words, gates on the prime plane only open to the ethereal plane. Gates on the ethereal plane open to gates on the prime plane and elemental planes. And so on. The only exception to this is at a city's nexus of power. Such a nexus will allow a mage (and only a mage) to travel through the nexus from any plane to the elemental. Also, it will allow a guardian (and only a guardian) to travel through the nexus from any plane to the cosmic.
