12.2.9.17 THE GAAGLIN SWAMP

Well beyond the confines of the Basin of Life, further south and east from the Skarch and Scorpion's Tail mountains, the Gaaglin Swamp sits in a balmy culvert of its own. Home to descendants of mugwump refugees who years ago fled here in their exile from the Balach Swamp, the Gaaglin now also houses two factions from amongst them: the scholars of the Gorlognal Academy and the thaumaturges who follow a being called the Eater of Flesh and Earth.

Believing the academians to be trespassers in the home of the Eater, the thaumaturges work to empower the Swamp and the Eater and remove the encroachments of the scholars. Their conflict brings to the fore considerations of belonging and homeland, and what it means to find shelter and to begin again.
