A dark day it was when the Harbingers of Glomdoring heard an unseen
presence in their halls. While the Voice of Mahalla was unable to shed
light as to its exact nature, the presence - with its chill winds,
keening wails, and invisible, destructive antics - awakened something
stranger. Its discomfiture roused a great song to discord and riot, as
discordant beats of music arose in the Glomdoring forest.
Not to be deterred, Pruxi, Bhiele, Talan, and Myste set off through the
forest, and with the aid of their communemates put the rebellious music
to silence once more. At Mahalla's suggestion, the Harbingers sought out
Ulthaed Fangleaf, who used the husks left by the music to bring the
disturbing presence to light - that of a furrikin spirit who took one
look at Mahalla and vanished, leaving behind only a charm.
Bhiele took the charm and, as Xenthos and Urazial joined the search
party, set out determining the location of its spectral owner. Though
much looking was had, it was Phoebus Skyplume of Hallifax who discovered
the ghost's hidden refuge, and the organ within. As the Harbingers
followed behind, it became clear that the spirit - Krik Worntail -
sought to provide Mahalla with one final tribute, but required
assistance from others. Though Bhiele proved initially skeptical, Pruxi
swiftly gathered what Krik required, and Talan was able to sound the
organ with the aid of death watch beetles - those creatures which
contained, Krik said, an infinitesimal fragment of Mahalla's voice.
As the organ played, it evoked a shadow of Mahalla's past, who sang of
what was and what may again be. Krik Worntail - a ghost of Mahalla's
history - and a haunting, ethereal song reminiscent of ages past, and
Mahalla's origins, await those intrepid enough to seek them out.
