Because there is some confusion, this is what is happening:

-The medallions of last year's seal bearers are drained of power, so
they will no longer destroy the invading Kethuru creatures. However,
they still hold their artifact powers.

-Medallions have can be traded-in for 2000 credits (i.e., they have a
sticker value of 3000 credits). We strongly urge you NOT to trade-in
medallions until after the Ascension Event.

-New medallions do not become empowered until after the Ascension Event.
They cannot destroy invading Kethuru creatures, nor do they yet contain
their artifact powers.
