Public News Post #1233

Response

Written by: Sthai Oubliette, Initiate of Night's Secrets
Date: Tuesday, May 12th, 2009
Addressed to: Seditionist Latulla De'Unnero, Custodian of Nil

Latulla,

I will state, categorically, aye: I was in a position of power to change
the Engine for several decades. However, I was not merely in the
position of Heresiarch, but that of Aois-Dana and High Priestess, for a
good portion of my time in Magnagora. Aye, I was selected by the Warlady
to lead the Nihilists.

But to not try? Nay, Latulla, you do a disservice and operate on
mistaken principles. For decades I worked within the Engine. For
decades, I worked on the Council and in the Order of Fain. I wrote and
fostered, mentored, sharpened my meagre combat skills, led revolts,
wrote drafts and redrafts of proposals for the Legion's credit sales. In
the Order, I spoke to the Masque Himself, ensuring upward momentum of
those below me; amidst the city, there was rarely one of the Councils I
have served on where I did not work for the benefit of my guildmates, or
refer other citizens to theirs for just rewards.

I have not endured? I endured for five decades. The fruits of my labor
are upon the shelves of the library, within the Order of Fain, and
amazingly, still within the streets of the city. I have given and
sacrificed much for the Engine. To accuse me of sitting by idly while
the Engine faltered and halted is pure fiction.

Refer to my first post. I worked tirelessly for the Engine. The Engine,
however, is not one woman! As much as I strove, when I sought to raise
others and teach them, they failed. Even as I fostered the young, so did
they depart for elsewhere, learn lessons poorly, or walk other paths.
The few I have taught that remain do me proud - justly proud, through
their accomplishments.

I have abandoned you? Have I truly? Behold your Guild. If the Nihilists
is but woman, one quill, to support the entire structure and complete
the work, then my point is made.

I left because I have lost faith in the ability of the Engine for
Transformation. Seven Warlords have come and gone in my time, seven
warlords have spoken of change, seven cycles of what seemed a rally and
a challenge have passed. I have watched, and I have worked, and I have
strived to improve Magnagora.

I am but one woman. My hands can only do so much.

And I refuse to sacrifice myself for a dream that has died.

For the Transformation, I remain,
Sthai Oubliette

Postscript: As for the character attacks, Seditionist, I advise you to
omit them from public posts. They perform, perhaps, the opposite
function of what you might desire. Strengthen your rhetoric through fact
and research, not through mere passion.

Penned by my hand on the 20th of Dvarsh, in the year 235 CE.
