2.2.4 QUITTING IN LUSTERNIA - GAME, GUILD, CITY, OR OTHERWISE

Two completely different topics are covered here: (1) quitting the game, as in, leaving Lusternia to return some time later, and (2) quitting an organisation of which you are a member.

QUITTING THE GAME
-----------------
Quitting from Lusternia is accomplished simply by typing QUIT or QQ. When you quit, your character and equipment is saved. There is no need to explicitly save your character before you quit. When you type quit, there will be a delay of a few seconds. This is to prevent people from quitting as soon as they are attacked, for this is a very frowned-upon action. You can abort the QQ or QUIT any time during the brief delay by typing STOP. Also if you take any damage during this time you will also stop your exit.

QUITTING YOUR ORGANISATION
--------------------------
Quitting an organisation (such as a city, guild or clan) is accomplished using QUIT <organisation>. Be sure to use the specific name of the organisation - QUIT CLIMANTI rather than QUIT CITY. The QUIT command does not work for divine orders: you must use RENOUNCE PATRON in that case. Before quitting, there are a few things you ought to consider:

o If you quit your city or commune, you lose access to that organisation's Nexus of Power. Certain organisation specific skills require access to the correct nexus, and if you lose access, you may well find your skills not working. You also lose access to that organisation's communication channel.

o If you quit an organisation and then change your mind, you will generally need to convince a leader of that organisation to let you back in. This is not a guaranteed process, especially when it comes to clans and orders. When you quit an organisation, you lose all of your accumulated ranks and positions in that organisation, even if you rejoin later on.

o Most of the social interaction in Lusternia is done through organisations. Being a stateless, guildless rogue can be a lonely and extremely boring experience. If you dislike your current city or guild, it is usually best to try another rather than to go it alone.

o Being kicked out of an organisation is mechanically identical to having quit - you still lose out on all of the benefits of being a member.
